Tottenham players were quick to respond after the club confirmed the arrival of a new signing in a busy summer window.

The North London club have enjoyed an active transfer period so far, as Spurs have secured deals for Mohammed Kudus, and making the loan signings of Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso permanent.

Tottenham were also poised to land Morgan Gibbs-White after triggering his release clause.

However, the move collapsed after Nottingham Forest threatened legal action, claiming Spurs had failed to contact them before approaching the player with an offer.

As a result, Gibbs-White opted to sign a new contract at Forest, dealing a blow to Tottenham’s midfield plans.

Still, the Spurs hierarchy have remained proactive in their efforts to support new manager Thomas Frank, and have now announced another deal that has generated plenty of excitement among fans and players alike.

Tottenham officially confirmed on 3 August that they have signed Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich, with an option to make the deal permanent.

The club announced the move via their official Instagram account, with current players such as Radu Dragusin, Pedro Porro, and his former teammate Rodrigo Muniz all liking the post.

Palhinha returns to the Premier League after a successful two-year spell with Fulham between 2022 and 2024, which earned him a high-profile move to Bayern last summer.

However, the Portuguese midfielder struggled to find form under Vincent Kompany, and Bayern are now willing to accept a loss on their £47 million investment.

Despite his underwhelming season in the Bundesliga, Spurs fans are excited about Palhinha’s arrival, with his grit and defensive qualities expected to add much-needed steel to the midfield.

With former chief scout Mick Brown telling Football Insider that Tottenham are open to offers for Yves Bissouma this summer, Palhinha’s arrival could pave the way for the Malian’s departure.

Spurs remain active in the market as they prepare for a return to Champions League football next season and are now targeting added creativity in their midfield.

Football Insider revealed on 29 July that Tottenham have set their sights on a move for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, following their failure to land Gibbs-White.

With James Maddison picking up a knee injury during pre-season, the club are expected to accelerate their pursuit of a new playmaker, but it remains to be seen if they make an official bid for Grealish.
