Liverpool will be using pre-season as a chance to experiment and try new tactics out.
The Reds are currently in Japan as they continue their summer tour of Asia, with their next game against Yokohama F.
Marinos on Wednesday, 30th July.
They have already played three games during pre-season, albeit one behind closed doors, winning two and losing one.
However, during a time like this, results are not the most important thing, getting players up to full fitness and individual performances are much more important.
That being said, Arne Slot has also been trying players in different positions, trying to work out where he might be able to fit them into the team next season.
And, there is one individual in particular who did not receive much game time last season, but people at Liverpool have suggested that he could get more for the upcoming campaign in a completely different position.

The Reds have done excellent business in the transfer market so far, but despite spending close to £300m, they still seem a little light in certain areas.
One department that many think needs reinforcing is at centre-back, with Liverpool only really having two first-team options after Jarell Quansah’s departure and with Joe Gomez constantly being injured.

However, according to journalist David Lynch, there is a chance that the Reds do not recruit a new centre-half this summer as people at the club have told him about Wataru Endo’s abilities to play there too.
“It is certainly an option [that Liverpool do not buy a new centre-back], but I would hope not,” Lynch told the Sports Mole YouTube channel.

“I’ve spoken to people at Liverpool, and they have recently talked up the ability of Endo to play there occasionally, Gravenberch too, that makes me slightly concerned I have to say.”
The Japanese international has played there in the past when injuries have struck and he has done a decent job, but that does not mean he should be playing there more often than not.
At five feet, ten inches, Endo is also on the slightly smaller side for a centre-back, and as he is not the quickest of players, this could pose a real problem for the Reds next season.
Before last season, Liverpool last won the league in 2019/20, and their title defence the following year did not go so well.
Why?
One of the reasons for this was because they went into the 2020/21 with just three senior centre-backs, the same number they have now.
And, after Virgil van Dijk, Gomez and Joel Matip got injured, they were left rather short of options and even had to play the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho there for large parts of the season.
That being said, the Reds need to buy at least another centre-back ahead of the new season or else this could happen again, and it is safe to say that they probably will not retain their title if Endo is playing there for the majority of the campaign for whatever reason.
