Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that his side remain “miles away” from Liverpool, acknowledging that simply qualifying for the Champions League would still mark a significant achievement this season.
Despite having won the last four Premier League titles, City is set to relinquish its crown after a campaign that has fallen below its usual high standards.
City currently trail league leaders Liverpool by 18 points and sit fourth in the table.
Pep Guardiola says City are still "miles away" from Liverpool
We are miles away from Liverpool and Arsenal but tonight we sleep fourth
It is in our hands but we have a final on Tuesday, three games at home, two away and hopefully we can achieve this big success to qualify for the Champions League."
Thanks to the strong performances of English clubs in this season's European competitions, the Premier League has secured an extra fifth spot in next season’s Champions League — putting City in a strong position.
