Rodrygo has been tipped to make the move from Real Madrid to Manchester City before the end of the transfer window.

The Brazilian has been linked with City, amid rumours that he will struggle for minutes under new Los Blancos manager Xabi Alonso.

Pep Guardiola’s side could be looking for a new winger, following the news that Tottenham are in talks to sign Savinho.

Spurs themselves were reportedly interested in Rodrygo earlier this summer, with Liverpool and Arsenal also linked.

However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the Madrid attacker will end up at the Etihad.

This article contains exclusive comment from Keith Wyness, former Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen CEO.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that it would cost Man City around £80m to prise Rodrygo away from Real Madrid.

Last season, the 24-year-old scored 14 goals and picked up 11 assists in all competitions for the Spanish giants.

Wyness added that Rodrygo would do very well under Guardiola in the Premier League.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It seems that Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid has sort of said he is not really keen on him.

“£80m is roughly what sort of price they’re talking about, and I think that’s one that could get done, but that means another incoming at Man City again.

“It’s going to be harder for City to get some of these players out because, as we all know, City bring them in on reasonably high wages and at reasonably high levels.

“I expect a lot of loan activity, as much as anything else, to be happening around City.

I think that’s how a lot of these players will still be in the City fold, or go somewhere within the City football group.

“I think Rodrygo would be one that would do very well with Pep, and he’s somebody I’d like to see in the Premier League as well.”

Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Man City are entering the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Guardiola’s side are exploring a move for the unsettled Italy international with Ederson potentially set to join Galatasaray.

City have expressed an interest in Donnarumma and are ready to rival Man United for his signature.

United have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old, amid doubts around the long-term future of current number one Andre Onana.
