Man City players shared their reaction to Josko Gvardiol’s encouraging update on his recovery from injury on social media.

Man City are preparing to bounce back following back-to-back defeats in the Premier League as they host Man United on 14 September.

It’s been a summer of major changes at the Etihad, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Ederson leaving Man City.

Amid the changes, the side has also suffered numerous injuries, with Josko Gvardiol being out since the start of the season, Rayan Cherki suffering a thigh problem, and John Stones being withdrawn from the England squad due to a muscle strain.

However, Gvardiol has offered fans a positive update on his recovery, raising hopes that he could play a part in the derby.

The defender posted multiple pictures of himself involved in the latest session with the team and captioned the post with: “It’s good to be back on the pitch!”

His post drew numerous reactions from his teammates as Phil Foden, James Trafford and Ruben Dias all liked the photos.

The centre-back has not featured for City so far this season, whilst also missing Croatia’s fixtures on the international break.

But with John Stones sidelined and Rayan Ait-Nouri also ruled out, his return comes at an important time for Guardiola.

Gvardiol was a standout performer in defence for the Cityzens last term, despite the underwhelming season where the club finished third.

Now, the focus is on preparation to face Man United with the Croatian defender eyeing his first appearance.
