Liverpool took on Manchester United in a Legends game today and a certain Roy Keane made an appearance.

• Star-studded France XI that won't feature in this month's Nations League games • 'You are the best': Manchester United star Antony hails Liverpool 28-year-old As you would expect, a chorus of boos welcomed the Irishman on to the field following his substitution, given his connection to Manchester United of course.

The legendary Red Devils captain and current Sky Sports pundit pulled on a Manchester United shirt for the first time since leaving Old Trafford in 2005.

This was Roy Keane’s debut for the Manchester United legends and it remains to be seen if this whets his appetite for further involvement or not.

It was another Keane, in the form of Robbie, who helped Liverpool restore parity, the former Reds hitman setting up Gonzalez – who scored twice in the first leg at Old Trafford, which raised £1.3 million for charity – to draw level.

However, Florent Sinama Pongolle calmly scored on 84 minutes to give Liverpool what proved to be a 2-1 victory and even though it was a charity event, Keane’s body language straight after the winner said it all.

And ironically, his final competitive game for the English giants was Liverpool away.
