Liverpool supporters are stricken with grief after the news that Diogo Jota has passed away.

Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, died after a car they were travelling in caught on fire in Cernadilla, Spain on Thursday morning.

The news has rocked the football world, with Jota leaving behind a wife and three young children.

Tributes have poured in for Jota, as players, fans and pundits remember the man as well as the footballer.

And with little other avenue to show their support, shocked Liverpool fans have gathered at Anfield to provide their own condolences for Jota and his family.

Jota may not have been the biggest name in the Liverpool squad, but supporters have always loved him nonetheless.

Tenacious, dogged and an incredibly ruthless finisher, the Portuguese won the hearts of the Anfield faithful long ago.

Taken far too soon while still a Liverpool player, Jota will now forever be a Red.

The legacy he leaves will live long into the future.

In the meantime, supporters have been gathering together to share in their grief.

As per journalist Aadam Patel, many fans journeyed to Anfield where they laid out shirts, scarves and flowers in the grass behind the main stand.

Liverpool fans are unfortunately no strangers to tragedy, and the club will have to come together once again to overcome another moment of despair.

As Liverpool fans are already showing, they will never forget their No.

Liverpool fans have a special way of commemorating those no longer with us, and Jota’s memory will feel that with full force.

Devastatingly, Jota is the first player to pass away while contracted to the club.

As a result, he is the only one true Red in history.

Liverpool fans will never forget that, and Thursday was just the beginning of what will be decades and decades of remembering the lad from Portugal.
