Darwin Nunez officially completed a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal this week.

It brings to an end a chapter of his career that many would’ve liked to have turned out differently.

Joining in the summer of 2022 for a club-record fee, many expected big things from the Uruguayan, but the brilliance he had shown with Benfica did not effectively transfer into his football in England, and he has now officially departed the club after three years in Red.

The striker got two goals for himself against the Reds, and was crucial to everything positive that the Portuguese side created, as they scored four goals across the two legs.

Ibrahima Konate has led the tributes to Darwin Nunez, as many players react to the news of his permanent departure from Liverpool.

The Frenchman posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram story, which reads:

“All the best my brother, I’m going to miss you so much, you know how much I love you, no one will forget how important you were for the Premier League that we won last season.”

Cody Gakpo also penned a response to the news: “All the best with your new journey.

We’re going to miss you.”

Whilst Andy Robertson added via his social media channels: “Good luck my friend, you will be missed.”

Curtis Jones said: “Good luck my brother!

You will be missed, all the best at your new club!”

Stefan Bacjetic’s was particularly meaningful: “You always demonstrated your passion for football and I am sure you will continue showing that.

You have a big heart and I’m going to miss you a lot, brother,”

Harvey Elliott’s tribute was simple and neat: “My brother, all the very best my friend.
