Chris Sutton has now been sharing his thoughts on one individual Liverpool performance against Everton last night.

Jurgen Klopp all but watched his side’s title dreams end, unless something truly extraordinary happens over the next couple of weeks.

Despite the table still not looking too glum on the face of it, Liverpool will surely now struggle to catch one of Arsenal or Manchester City even if they win all of their remaining games.

When reflecting on the season, perhaps Klopp’s side have still made excellent progress in comparison to last.

However, in the context of it being the German’s last season, failing to win a trophy beyond the League Cup doesn’t feel fitting.

Klopp will leave an extraordinary legacy at Anfield, just like some of the club’s most experienced players

That being said, some of the team’s newer faces have perhaps failed to quite live up to the standards needed to win a Premier League medal.

Darwin Nunez has enjoyed some phenomenal moments across the campaign, but hasn’t shown the necessary level of consistency.

Speaking on the ‘It’s All Kicking Off!’ podcast, Chris Sutton shared his thoughts on Darwin Nunez’s display last night.

As is often the case, the £64m-striker was extremely busy in front of goal, but then failed to show the composure needed.

And when speaking on the podcast, Sutton agreed that the Everton performance was a microcosm of Nunez’s whole Liverpool season.

He said: “I think the point you make about it being a microcosm of the season and missing big chances, that is something when you look back and the margins are that tight.

“And whatever anybody says, Liverpool had big chances before half-time, Darwin Nunez, that’s an easy chance, an easy finish – should have just hit the far corner.

“Ended up going for power, that’s a poor decision in a pressure moment and pretty much sums up his season, we’ve talked him up at times.”

Of course, there’s never going to be the feeling that Nunez is a lost hope, he’s simply too talented.

But perhaps one of the biggest tasks for Liverpool’s next manager will be finding a way to help Nunez take an extra split-second to find his composure.

Although if that’s still repeatedly been an issue during Klopp’s tenure, one of the most inspiring coaches around, perhaps it will never improve.

All that being said, Jurgen Klopp has just made a comment about West Ham before this weekend’s game.
