Alejandro Garnacho is close to completing his move from Manchester United to Chelsea and the winger would have had five key decisions influence his decision.

Chelsea have showed interest in Garnacho and been negotiating with Man United throughout much of the summer, and now they have their breakthrough after striking a £40million deal to sign him.

Enzo Maresca has been keen to bolster his attacking ranks this summer with the additions of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens already having been signed.

The Blues have started the season with a win and a draw from their opening Premier League fixtures, and Maresca will hope Garnacho can add further threat into their attack.

Below are three reasons why Garnacho may have decided to leave Manchester United for Chelsea.

The 21-year-old has not been in any matchday squad for Man United this season and needs to reignite his career elsewhere.

Manchester United failed to qualify for Europe this season following their defeat in the Europa League final to Spurs and 15th placed Premier League finish.

Chelsea meanwhile claimed a fourth placed finish, and can offer Garnacho Champions League football at Stamford Bridge.

The opportunity to play against Europe’s elite club’s and players would have been appealing to Garnacho over other sides that may have wanted his services.

Garnacho has proven that he can play on either wing and with new signing Jamie Gittens still adjusting to life at Chelsea, and 18-year-old Estevao as back-up, the left flank is currently there to be taken.

With Premier League experience and an eagerness to get back on the pitch, Garnacho could slot straight into Maresca’s side.

Garnacho can offer competition to Pedro Neto on the right flank too, so the chance to become a regular at Chelsea is there to grab.

With eight Argentina caps, playing Champions League football and starting week in week out may help earn him more opportunities at international level.
