Liverpool will look to maintain their 100% record in the 2025–26 Premier League when they visit newly promoted Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, September 14.

After three wins from three under Arne Slot, the reigning champions head into Lancashire buoyed by momentum but wary of Burnley’s spirited, if inconsistent, start under Scott Parker.

Burnley sit on three points after securing a hard-fought victory over Sunderland, sandwiched between defeats to Tottenham and Manchester United.

The Clarets have scored four goals and conceded six, highlighting defensive frailties that have left them bottom for shots-in-box conceded and with the division’s lowest shots-in-box ratio this season.

Despite back-to-back losses, Parker’s side showed resilience at Old Trafford, only to lose to a stoppage-time goal.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have navigated a tricky opening run with narrow victories over Bournemouth (4-2), Newcastle (3-2), and Arsenal (1-0).

The Reds have won 12 of the last 16 meetings, scoring 30 goals to Burnley’s 11.

On the road at Turf Moor, Liverpool have claimed eight victories in nine top-flight visits, keeping four consecutive clean sheets in those games.

Such a one-sided recent history is to be expected, but Burnley’s home crowd and manager Scott Parker will not be backing down from the challenge.

Arne Slot seems to think so, saying in his pre-match press conference:

“They’re defensively solid but I don’t give them enough credit if I only talk about that,” he began.

“The first goal they scored against Sunderland was a great team goal, so they’re a good team.

“But like all the others, when I think about all the teams that were relegated last season, we had problems at Ipswich, we had problems at Leicester and we had problems at Southampton?

We only won it in the end phase of the game.

“We know that every game is difficult, we only have to look back at last season to understand that.”

Slot also added in his press conference that Alexander Isak will be introduced gently while Curtis Jones is out.

Jeremie Frimpong has been in training this week after a hamstring injury but may not be risked from the start.

With that in mind, the Liverpool predicted team is:

Alisson; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike.
