Ruben Amorim’s job as Manchester United manager is not under threat even if they lose the Europa League final, talkSPORT understands.
Amorim admitted he was ‘embarrassed’ by United’s Premier League form after Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at home to West Ham, which left the fallen giants with a pitiful 24 points from his 25 games in charge.
That dismal record has prompted suggestions Amorim’s position will come under review following next week’s do-or-die clash with Tottenham in Bilbao.
However, United insiders insist club top brass are planning for the long-haul with the Portuguese at the helm.
Amorim will also be backed in the summer transfer window with a deal to sign Wolves talisman Matheus Cunha advanced.
talkSPORT reported on Monday that confidence is growing in United’s chase for Ipswich striker Liam Delap.
We can also reveal Bournemouth midfielder Antoine Semenyo has held talks with the Red Devils.

Mason Greenwood could be on course to make a controversial return to English football.
Greenwood was forced to leave Manchester United in 2023 after leaked plans for him to resume his Old Trafford career sparked fury among fans and employees.
This season he has scored 19 goals in 34 league games for Marseille, a record bettered only by Paris Saint-Germain ace Ousmane Dembele.
However, sources close to the 23-year-old say he is unsettled in France, which has put clubs across Europe on alert.
talkSPORT has been told Greenwood’s potential suitors include at least two Premier League clubs.
Earlier this year former England international Greenwood applied to switch allegiances to Jamaica to join their World Cup qualifying campaign.

West Ham’s Europa Conference League-winning defender Nayef Aguerd has dealt manager Graham Potter a blow by demanding a move away this summer, talkSPORT understands.
Aguerd has had a successful season on loan at Spanish side Real Sociedad, prompting Potter to plan to reintegrate him into his team ahead of the next season.
With the Hammers unable to spend big due to PSR restrictions, Potter sees Aguerd as an opportunity to save cash.
However, the Morocco international has made it clear he has no intention of returning to London Stadium.
West Ham will want to recoup the bulk of the £30million they paid to sign Aguerd from French club Rennes in 2022 in order to sanction a sale.
He has since made 58 appearances for the Hammers, scoring four goals from central defence.

Winning the Europa League would not save Manchester United's season, according to their former assistant manager.
Rene Meulensteen has given an honest assessment of his old side's fortunes this season.
The Red Devils face Tottenham in the Europa League final on May 21.
A win would secure both the trophy and a spot in next season's Champions League.
Asked if a victory would make up for their poor league form, Meulensteen told Action Network: "Absolutely not.
This is the lowest they have ever finished in the Premier League.
"Never mind that, if you look at Bruno Fernandes’ contribution this year with goals and assists, and take it away, it could have been worse.
"For both teams, Manchester United and Tottenham, it is vital that they win the Europa League because it gives them a ticket into the Champions League that creates extra funds and creates the possibility to sign other players they need.
"So there is so much riding on that final, but it doesn’t make up for the league."
United are 16th in the Premier League with two matches remaining, with their current position representing a lowest finish since promotion in 1975.
Meulensteen spent five years as Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant at Old Trafford, winning three Premier League titles in that time.

Leeds and Everton are among the clubs tracking soon-to-be free agent Vladimir Coufal, talkSPORT understands.
Coufal, 32, will leave West Ham at the end of the season after being told his contract is not being extended.
Everton boss David Moyes is a big admirer of the Hammers’ Czech cult hero while newly-promoted Leeds want to add more top-flight experience to their squad.
Fulham had a number of bids rejected for Coufal on the last day of the winter transfer window and may also revisit their interest.
Coufal, whose agent is ex-Reading winger Stephen Hunt, wants to stay in England beyond the end of his Hammers contract after five years at the London Stadium.
It comes after his son Nicolas signed with the club’s academy, which Coufal revealed in a video shared to social media.
Alongside the clip, he wrote: “We are so proud of you.
Welcome in West Ham my son.”
Since signing from Slavia Prague in 2020, Coufal has made 178 appearances for the Hammers, providing 20 assists from right-back.
He was also part of their Conference League-winning side in 2023 under Moyes.
Coufal will leave the club this summer along with fellow out of contract stars Aaron Cresswell, Lukasz Fabianski and Danny Ings.

Manchester United are not planning to hold a trophy parade if they win the Europa League.
The Red Devils will instead hold a barbeque at their Carrington training ground if they beat Tottenham in next week’s final.
It is understood the decision is part of continued cost-cutting measures at Old Trafford.
The club have previously announced redundancies and removed free lunches offered to staff.
As well as the potential celebration plans, United are also set to restrict player ticket requests.
Players will be limited to two free tickets to the final in Bilbao on May 21 along with on-the-day travel to the San Mames.
United have been given an allocation of 15,000 tickets for their clash with Spurs in Spain.
The winner of the Europa League final will qualify for next season’s Champions League despite both sides sitting in the Premier League’s bottom five.

Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche has hinted at snubbing a move away from the club this summer.
The 23-year-old has been linked with both Manchester City and Manchester United ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Akliouche is understood to be valued at £59million by Monaco, who are open to selling the French under-21 international.
However, Akliouche has now expressed his desire to remain at the club beyond the summer.
Speaking after Saturday’s win over Lyon, he told reporters: “I am under contract at Monaco and I hope that I will be here next season, why not?”
The victory secured Monaco’s place in the Champions League for a second consecutive season.
Akliouche penned a new contract with the Monegasques last summer through to 2028, having joined the club’s academy as a 15-year-old.
He has since scored seven goals and provided 12 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions this season.

Nottingham Forest are set to target at least five new signings this summer, according to The Telegraph.
Nuno Espirito Santo can expect a busy summer at the City Ground after securing European qualification.
As well as new signings, Forest are expected to seek new contracts for several of their key players.
Neco Williams, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ola Aina are set to be offered new deals by the club.
Aina's current contract expires at the end of June, whilst Williams and Hudson-Odoi both have a year remaining on their deals.
Meanwhile, Rennes full-back Adrien Truffert is understood to have been identified as the priority left-back target ahead of the transfer window.
The Frenchman joins Ipswich striker Liam Delap, Manchester City starlet James McAtee and Southampton’s Mateus Fernandes as summer targets.
Forest are also expected to make a fresh approach for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, the report adds.
Sunday’s draw with Leicester secured a place in Europe for the first time in 29 years with a guaranteed top seven finish.
Although they will at least be playing Conference League football, Forest could still book a place in next season’s Champions League ahead of their final two matches of the campaign.

Liverpool are progressing with talks to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, talkSPORT understands.
The Dutch full-back is seen as a direct replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.
Alexander-Arnold will leave the Reds on a free transfer when his contract expires and is set to join Real Madrid on a five-year deal.
Arne Slot’s side are now pushing ahead with their plans to replace the England international ahead of their Premier League title defence.
Talks are underway between the club and the player, who is keen on a move to Anfield.
It follows his agent, Jeffery Lemmert, posting on Instagram with the caption: "We working," and his location set to Manchester.
An approach has also been made to Leverkusen regarding the structure of triggering Frimpong’s £29.5million release clause.
Frimpong has three years left on his deal with the German side, where he won a league and cup double last season.
The 24-year-old previously spent nine years in Manchester City’s academy before leaving England to join Celtic in 2019.
He currently has 30 goals and 44 assists from right-back in 190 appearances since signing for Leverkusen in 2021.
Frimpong has also scored once in 12 caps for the Netherlands, including three appearances at last summer’s Euros.

I haven’t had any contacts, but it makes you think."

Tottenham have been dubbed the 'worst team in Premier League history not to go down'.
Ange Postecoglou's side have suffered 20 league defeats from 36 matches this season.
Sunday's 2-0 home loss to Crystal Palace leaves Spurs 17th in the table with two fixtures remaining.
Although they cannot be relegated, Jason Cundy believes this season's Spurs side are the worst in the Premier League era to avoid the drop.
The talkSPORT co-host told Jamie O'Hara on The Sports Bar: "You've been, a three-legged dog with fleas.
"You are the worst team in Premier League history, thus far, not to go down.
Winning their last two games, including a final-day meeting with Chelsea, might not be enough unless Aston Villa, Manchester City or Newcastle drop points along the way.
However, they are assured of at least a place in the Conference League, which will see them play European football for the first time since 1995-96.

The Premier League transfer deadline is set to slam four hours earlier than usual this summer.
Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail reports the window will close at 7pm rather than 11pm.
This is to help club staff have a more normal working day because most of the staff involved in admin end up working well into the early hours.
However, there are some Premier League clubs who are concerned the shift will leave them vulnerable to other leagues, while certain deals will no doubt collapse with less time available.
But given the move is purely down to the well-being of the staff, this is good to see people's live and health are being considered.

UEFA have confirmed that German referee Felix Zwayer will officiate the Europa League final next week.
And that's an appointment that could lead to some interesting reactions from Man United and Tottenham.
Zwayer was given a six-month ban by the German football federation in 2006 for his involvement in a match-fixing scandal.
"There were loads of options but Liverpool is the place for me.”
Also, on comparisons to him and Mohamed Salah signing new contracts and Alexander-Arnold not, Van Dijk said: “Everyone has different opinions or different phases of their career, so you can’t compare our situations.
“I was very happy to eventually come to an agreement with the club.
"Obviously, it’s not really a Liverpool thing to go about it the way we did with me and Mo but, like I said when it was announced, I’m happy and proud to extend because for me, there is no other place to be at this point."

Ipswich striker Liam Delap is leaning towards joining Manchester United, talkSPORT understands.
Man United and Chelsea are the two leading Premier League candidates to trigger Delap’s £30million release clause.
Former Man City youngster Delap, who has scored 12 top-flight goals this season, is said to be keen to return to the north west.
United’s pursuit of the England under-21 ace will be further boosted if they beat Tottenham in the Europa League final.
It would mean they qualify for the Champions League and Delap's preference is to play in UEFA's top-tier competition.
