Chelsea are set to recall Mac Guiu from his loan to Sunderland, talkSPORT understands.

Talks opened today after Liam Delap's injury, with the Blues needing cover for the striker.

The news follows Chelsea cancelling Nicolas Jackson's loan to Bayern Munich, though, it remains to be seen if this opens the door for that to happen on deadline day.

Guiu will now be part of Enzo Maresca's squad for the remainder of the season.

Roma have confirmed the signing of Kostas Tsimikas on loan from Liverpool.

The left-back has completed a season-long loan to the Italian giants after dropping down the pecking order at Anfield.

With the arrival of Milos Kerkez, he is now third choice for Arne Slot.

Last season, he struggled for regular Premier League game time, last playing a top-flight match in the second-last game of the season - 3-2 defeat to Brighton.

HE LOVES PLAYING VILLA!

Ismaila Sarr has another goal against Aston Villa, the fourth of his career, and this is the one that wraps up.

From Villa's point of view, it's a mess.

A long throw is lobbed into the box.

Maxence Lacroix flicks it on, and there is Sarr to stoop and head home from six yards.

It's been a poor campaign so far for the Villans.

IS THAT A GOODBYE GIFT?

Ezri Konsa makes a right mess of a clearance, and the ball drops to Daichi Kamada.

He pokes it to Marc Guehi in the box.

The centre-back allows the ball to run across his body, and without taking a touch, he bends a sublime effort into the far corner.

Well, this isn't good for Crystal Palace at all.

Adam Wharton is coming off, and it looks to be a groin injury.

The midfielder tried to block a Youri Tielemans shot and immediately indicated his groin had gone.

He manages to walk off, but he will play no further part in this game.

Jefferson Lerma is on for him.

That is the end of the first 45 minutes, and it is so far so good for the Eagles.

Crystal Palace lead 1-0 at Villa Parj against a toothless Aston Villa.

Jean-Philippe Mateta has the only goal of the game from the penalty spot after a foul by Marco Bizot on Daichi Kamada.

Bizot is standing in for Emiliano Martinez, who is nowhere to be seen with interest from Manchester United intensfying.

PALACE STRIKE FIRST!

Crystal Palace are awarded a penalty for a foul by Marco Bizot on Daichi Kamada.

It's great play from Jean-Philippe Mateta as he drops out of the box to receive possession.

He then feeds a pass into Kamada, and he skips around the goalkeeper, who brings him down.

Mateta coolly sends Bizot the wrong way and celebrates in the corner.

He smashes the corner flag out of the ground and is booked.

No Emiliano Martinez for Aston Villa as he looks to complete a late move to Manchester United.

That means another start for Marco Bizot in goal.

Evann Guessand also comes into the side for a start.

Despite all the speculation, Crystal Palace do name Marc Guehi in their team.

Aston Villa: Bizot, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Maatsen, McGinn, Tielemans, Malen, Rogers, Guessand, Watkins

Subs: Proctor, Buendia, Digne, Torres, Jimoh, Bogarde, Rowe, Burrowes, Patterson

Crystal Palace: Henderson, Richards, Lacroix, Guehi, Munoz, Mitchell, Hughes, Wharton, Sarr, Kamada, Mateta

Subs: Benitez, Lerma, Pino, Clyne, Esse, Sosa, Rodney, Devenny, Cardines

There goes the final whistle, and it's three points for Liverpool!

It was a game that didn't live up to the hype at all, but it was saved by a stunning free-kick.

Dominik Szoboszlai's goal lit up Anfield and will be remembered for a long time.

Other than that, there were very few chances, and Mikel Arteta might reflect on a missed opportunity.

Oooooooo, this doesn't look too good.

Florian Wirtz goes down after playing a pass in midfield.

Initially, it looks like cramp, but then, it appears it could be something else.

The German limps off the pitch to be replaced by Wataru Endo.

Meanwhile, Arteta introduces Max Dowman.

WOW!

I mean, one of the worst games has just been lit up by one of the best goals.

Dominik Szoboszlai clears everyone out of the way.

He steps up and whips a stunning effort over the three-man wall.

It is a ridiculous effort that crashes off the inside of the post and is an early-season contender for Goal of the Year.

Honestly, take a bow!

Into the final ten minutes here at Anfield, and we have a free-kick for Liverpool 30 yards from goal.

Martin Zubimendi also picks up a yellow card for a trip on Cody Gakpo.

There are now three players standing over this free-kick...

Ibrahima Konate is now limping off the field.

The Frenchman can't continue, and Joe Gomez is on for him.

Steve Parish has just added a few million to Marc Guehi's transfer fee...

And Hugo Ekitike is replaced by Federico Chiesa.

Wow, that is absolutely sensational.

Dominik Szoboszlai picks up the ball deep inside his half and pings a truly magnificent pass to Florian Wirtz.

The German brings it down and skips inside before finding Mohamed Salah in the box.

The Egyptian should take the strike first time, but he takes a touch and his eventual effort is blocked.

That would have been a sublime goal.

Mikel Arteta decides he wants to win this game and introduces Eberechi Eze for his Arsenal debut.

The Englishman comes on for Gabriel Martinelli and takes his place on the left wing.

Martin Odegaard also enters the field for Mikel Merino.

Viktor Gyokeres is into the book.

The striker reacted slowly to a pass into midfield and Virgil van Dijk beat him to it.

The Swede stands on the Dutchman's ankle and gets a yellow card.

Finally, a goal, but it 's not going to count!

Good play from Liverpool to get the ball into the box to Florian Wirtz.

He rifles in a shot that David Raya spills, and Cody Gakpo gathers the rebound and is wiped out by the Spaniard.

Hugo Ekitike is on hand to score, but the offside flag is up.

It's not against Ekitike, but Gakpo, meaning the Reds can't get a penalty either.

Good play from Liverpool to open up some space in midfield.

Ryan Gravenberch finds a bit of space between the midfield and defence.

He takes a touch and drives in a shot from 25 yards that skids well wide.

Right, back underway for the second 45 minutes.

It has to get better, I mean, surely, please?

No changes for either side.

That is the end of the first half, and it has been underwhelming.

Liverpool haven't got going at all and have offered nothing in an attacking sense.

I am not sure Hugo Ekitike or Mohamed Salah have even touched the ball?

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been the better team, with Noni Madueke playing well and testing Alisson Becker from just inside the box.

But even from corners, they have looked pretty toothless.

David Raya, redeemed!

The Spanish goalkeeper launches a long ball over the top of Milos Kerkez.

Noni Madueke gets in behind, drives into the box and cuts inside.

He lashes in a shot that is deflected over the bar for a corner that comes to nothing.

David Raya, you lucky boy!

The Spaniard plays a dangerous pass into midfield, and Virgil van Dijk steams in.

He should shoot on the edge of the box, but he tries to play a pass into Mohamed Salah.

That is blocked as far as Alexis Mac Allister, and he shoots, but it is blocked.

First yellow card of the game goes to Ryan Gravenberch.

The Dutchman trips Riccardo Calafiori as the left-back moved up the pitch.

Declan Rice decides to try his luck from 40 yards, and leathers the ball 40 yards over the bar.

First opportunity of the game!

It comes from an corner - shock - and the ball misses everyone.

It drops to Noni Madueke, who brings the ball down on his chest.

He then fires in a shot that Alisson Becker stops with a save low to his right.
