Leicester City have announced Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager.

The Dutchman replaces Steve Cooper, who was sacked days after the Foxes’ 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

He takes over with the Foxes sitting 16th in the Premier League on 10 points, one point away from the relegation zone.

The former PSV manager beat Leicester twice during his four matches in interim charge of Man United following Erik ten Hag's sacking.

Speaking to LCFC.com, Van Nistelrooy said: “I’m proud, I’m excited.

“Ruud’s experience, knowledge, and winning mentality will undoubtedly bring great value to us, and we look forward to supporting him in achieving success for our fans and our Club.”

Brighton CEO Paul Barber has shut down speculation over an exit for Evan Ferguson and insists he’s ‘very happy’.

Republic of Ireland striker Ferguson has only started one Premier League match this season leading to speculation over his future.

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has already played down speculation of a departure and CEO Barber has now ruled out him leaving as well.

Speaking exclusively on Drive ahead of their Premier League clash at home to Southampton on Friday, live on talkSPORT, he said: “Evan’s a really important part of the squad.

“Sometimes mischievous rumours emerge from various strange places and one or two journalists will buy into those ideas, put out there by one or two other clubs perhaps in some cases.

“But Evan’s very happy, we’ve very happy with Evan, we expect him to be an important of the squad throughout the season.

“Unfortunately, sometimes in this business we know that the rumour mill and the noise on the outside is stuff you have to ignore.”

Sean Dyche has discussed the challenges in the dugout coming up against a team with a recently appointed manager.

His Everton side travel to Old Trafford on Sunday for Ruben Amorim's first Premier League home game as Manchester United boss.

Dyche said: "Everyone talks of a 'new manager bounce' and the rest of it, so it's more difficult in that way of thinking, but they've still got good players.

"A new manager to the Premier League will maybe give a different feel to it, I'm sure he's been working with the players and trying to get his thoughts across."

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim continued his effusive praise of Mason Mount in his press conference this afternoon.

The Portuguese named the former Chelsea star as a player he was really excited to work with after arriving at Old Trafford.

Mount only managed a late cameo in the 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town but managed an hour after starting against Bodo/Glimt.

Amorim said: "He is working really hard.

Inshallah we will keep going and I will support the team every step of the way."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is refusing to think about the Premier League title race.

The Citizens currently trail Liverpool by eight points, heading into their crunch clash on Sunday at Anfield.

If the Reds win, they'll be 11 clear of City with 13 games played, and though it is early in the season, that would be a huge gap to overcome.

Though if any team could do it, it's City.

But despite this, Guardiola is mainly trying to end this awful run of form his side are enduring.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference about the gap to Liverpool and the title race, he said: "In the situation we have, it's not realistic to think big targets.

We are not running the club on that basis, but we will take it.

“A large part of that will go to his original club Brighton, everyone seems to think it will go straight in the coffers but it will go down the chain. 

“You need to be bringing them up from your academy to get the full 100 per cent.”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been speaking to the media ahead of their game against Liverpool, and he has provided an injury update of sorts.

The Citizens have lost five of their last six matches in all competitions, including the last three in the Premier League.

They were thrashed 4-0 by Tottenham last weekend, and then threw away a three-goal lead in the Champions League against Feyenoord.

And ahead of the match, Guardiola revealed absolutely nothing about his injured players.

Of course, Rodri and Oscar Bobb are long-term absentees.

But Jeremy Doku and John Stones stand a chance of being involved.

However, when asked about who would be available, Guardiola simply said: "We will see today."

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe turns 47 today, but he faces a potential injury situation in midfield.

The Toon boss revealed after their 2-0 defeat to West Ham on Monday that Joe Willock and Bruno Guimaraes had suffered injuries.

Willock was withdrawn at half time with a leg problem, while Guimaraes suffered a glute issue.

And ahead of their trip to Crystal Palace, Howe revealed that both were doubts.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference about the duo, he said: "They have a chance.

"Neither are serious injuries, and we'll make a decision today."

Should Guimaraes miss out, Newcastle would be in a huge position of struggle.

Since he became a key player for the Magpies, they've failed to win all seven Premier League games he's missed through either injury or suspension.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has provided an injury update ahead of Spurs' game against Fulham this weekend.

The London club were held to a 2-2 draw in the Europa League last night, and they'll be looking to get back to winning ways, and could have Cristian Romero back.

The Argentine missed the stunning 4-0 win over Manchester City last weekend, but he has a chance of being involved at the weekend.

However, Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven remain out.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, he said: "We'll see how the boys come in.

"Romero is closer, he's probably the closest but again probably unlikely, but I'm not ruling him out.

He's got to get through a few things today, and then we've got a session tomorrow."

Manchester City could be about to lose yet another one of their academy products.

talkSPORT understands that Crystal Palace are interested in recruiting James McAtee.

The 22-year-old is part of Pep Guardiola's first team this season, but he is thought to want more regular football.

McAtee spent two seasons on loan at Sheffield United, including one in the Premier League.

He made 30 appearances for the Blades, scoring three goals and setting up three more in one of the worst top-flight teams ever.

However, City have had a bad record in selling some of their academy products, with Cole Palmer and others going on to thrive elsewhere.

But given their problems, they are willing to sell McAtee for around £20 million.

The son of former Stoke legend, Rory, has impressed for the newly-promoted side, scoring six Premier League goals.

This is only two fewer then he managed in the Championship at Hull last year, so he's adapting to life in the top-flight well.

The 21-year-old is a bit of an old-fashioned centre-forward, in that he's big and powerful.

He only just joined Ipswich this summer for £20 million, but the Citizens have a buyback clause, which could stop their rivals swooping in and signing him.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has refused to confirm if Gabriel Magalhaes is available for the Gunners this weekend.

Arsenal face West Ham tomorrow evening, and just as their injury issues appeared to be easing, Gabriel was forced off during the 5-1 win over Sporting Lisbon in midweek.

The Brazilian scored before going off with a knock.

Gabriel Martinelli also couldn't carry on, but Arteta was very vague about either player's availability, which isn't helpful for FPL managers.

When asked about injuries at his pre-match press conference, he said: "We have another training session.

A few weren’t able to train."

Specifically on Gabriel, he said: "Wait and see."

Man City's and Newcastle's owners could find themselves in serious bother if a proposed amendment to Football Governance Bill goes ahead.

According to The Times, Labour peer Lord Bassam of Brighton has proposed state ownership of clubs should be banned as part of the new bill.

An independent regulator for the sport is set to be introduced, and this move would have to be wanted by the government and then backed by MPs.

If accepted, it would mean Man City and Newcastle would be forced to change their ownership in order to be granted a licence by the regulator.

Newcastle are owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) while City’s owner Sheikh Mansour is the vice-president of the United Arab Emirates.

Frank Lampard has had his first day as manager at Championship side Coventry City.

The former Chelsea and England midfielder completed his first training session and spoke to the media on Thursday.

"I have respect for the club and I realise the history and traditions," he said.

"The ambition of the club and where the owner wants to take it inspired me, and I am here to help.

"I have a positive view on the squad and I am looking forward to working with the players."
