Leicester are at risk of being docked points in the Championship next season after being hit with a new PSR charge.
It was only earlier this campaign that the Foxes escaped a points deduction in the top-flight following an appeal over a PSR breach for the 2022/23 term.
But they could be set for punishment over three new charges.
These include breaching PSR rules for the 2023/24 season, not providing accounts on time as well as not providing full assistance to the Premier League.
While the club won their battle over alleged 22/23 breaches, they are now facing a new points deduction.
However, that would only apply in the Championship.
An EFL spokesperson said: "The EFL notes that the Premier League has today referred Leicester City to an independent Commission for an alleged breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules for the period ending season 2023/24.
"The EFL commenced an investigation into this reporting period following the March 2024 submissions and as is permitted in accordance with EFL Regulations, jurisdiction for that passed to the Premier League at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season on the Club’s promotion.
"We will now await the outcome of the Premier League proceedings and until then are not able to comment any further on the matter.”

Liverpool CEO Michael Edwards has been approached by Al Hilal regarding a senior role at the Saudi side, talkSPORT understands.
It is believed that conversations between Edwards and Al Hilal president Fahad bin Nafel are ongoing.
Edwards, who is also the CEO of FSG, is understood to be content with his role, with it to be considered a surprise if he left.
But that won't stop Al Hilal in their pursuit with Saudi chiefs keen to improve their sporting leadership and infrastructure at clubs.
While Edwards is't actively looking for a new job, he seems no harm in speaking to potential suitors to discuss projects where he will be given the freedom to build an executive team.
Edwards was previously the Reds' sporting director from between 2016 until 2022.
He then returned to Anfield last summer to oversee their football operations following the departure of boss Jurgen Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp's agent has insisted reports linking the German with a return to football management are wide of the mark.
Italian outlet La Stampa reported on Tuesday that the former Liverpool boss was set for a sensational return to the dugout with Serie A giants AS Roma.
The news outlet claimed that Klopp has been in talks over taking over at the Stadio Olimpico for some time and that he has given the 'okay' to chairman Dan Friedkin.
But Klopp's agent Mark Kosicke has quickly poured cold water on the suggestion.
Speaking to Qatar-based Winwin Sports, Kosicke said: “Reports on Klopp becoming new AS Roma manager are not true."
The 57-year-old left Liverpool at the end of last season before taking up a role with Red Bull as the group’s Head of Global Soccer.

Joel Ward has confirmed he is not planning to retire from football once he leaves Crystal Palace this summer upon the expiration of his contract.
Ward has made 363 appearances for Palace during 13 years with the club since signing from Portsmouth in 2012.
The 35-year-old capped his time in south London by lifting the FA Cup on Saturday.
But the veteran defender failed to feature throughout in the tournament, with Ward playing just 12 minutes of football spread across two ganmes.
Despite his lack of playing time, Ward told talkSPORT Drive: "The idea is to carry on.
have been laughing with the supporters, as their dreams have been achieved before tonight.
It's a good job that the Reds already have the league wrapped up though, as this was a pretty meaningful loss...
This is the first time they have lost a Premier League game having led at half time since December 2016 (a 4-3 loss at Bournemouth).
It has ended their incredible run of 156 games without defeat when leading at the break (W142 D14).

How big could that be for Brighton?!
The Seagulls have held on to beat Premier League champions Liverpool, coming back from 2-1 down to win 3-2.
That's the first time ever they've beaten the Reds in the Premier League when trailing in a game.
But his left-footed finish ends up going well wide!
He won't want to see that again...

Things are back underway at the Amex.
Liverpool faced 11 shots in the first half.
That is their most in the opening 45 minutes of a Premier League game since May 2016 vs Swansea City (also 11).
On top of that, Brighton had 32 touches in the Liverpool box, the most by a team in the first half of a top-flight game against the Reds on record (since 2009-10).
It's fair to say they could be on the beach defensively...
They were actually on the beach all last week to be fair, so you can't blame the Premier League champions too much.
After losing in the FA Cup final on Saturday, City have not won a major title for the first time in eight years, but Guardiola still wants to show off his silverware.
His side's main aim this season is to now qualify for the Champions League, and he made a point to reference the trophy-winning clubs who could make the competition.
The Man City boss said: "Of course, it's important to qualify.
"But except for Newcastle who won the Carabao Cup, Liverpool won the Premier League and Manchester City that won the Community Shield - the other teams didn't win trophies
"So the other teams like Chelsea, who can win one title [Europa Conference League] against Real Betis, and [Manchester] United and Tottenham can win the Europa League.
"All the other teams, they are expecting of course to qualify for the Champions League but this is important for every club that play this in competition next year.
"We played a really good [FA Cup] final, not enough to win it, and we have the last two games.
"We need four points to be in the Champions League next year and this is enough and everyone has to be aware of that."
