Departing captain Kevin De Bruyne has revealed he "probably won't" play for Manchester City at the revamped Club World Cup next month.
The 33-year-old is set to leave the club when his contract expires this summer, with Premier League games against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium and a trip to Fulham potentially his last in a City shirt.
De Bruyne has helped City to six Premier League titles and the Champions League since signing in 2015, but suggested after their 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final that the timing of the new competition will likely hinder his ability to take part.
"It does not make any sense," De Bruyne was quoted as saying by a number of national newspapers after the Wembley final.
His last Match of the Day will air on Sunday now and he won’t be back.”

Mikel Arteta said he is ready to give his life to deliver a trophy for Arsenal after he apologised to the club's fans for ending the season empty handed.
Declan Rice's second-half strike fired Arsenal to a 1-0 win over Newcastle and confirmed their place in the Champions League.
However, the Gunners failed to launch a serious title challenge to Liverpool this season, and they are set to finish runners-up in the Premier League for a third consecutive campaign.
They were also eliminated in the semi-finals of both the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
Addressing the Emirates crowd at the final whistle, an emotional Arteta, whose FA Cup triumph in 2020 remains the sole silverware of his tenure, said: "We had a dream, and it was to be here now, or in a week's time, and bringing the big trophies to you guys but we couldn't do it for many circumstances.
"We need to make sure chasing a dream doesn't get blurry, and make sure we chase the dream with enthusiasm and positivity next season.
"We have started to create our own history here in the stadium.
And I really value that.
"What I can promise is that I will do my very best (to win a trophy) and I will give my life, and get every drop of everybody here to squeeze it and get the best (out of them)."

Arsenal legend Paul Merson fears Mikel Arteta may be axed at Christmas should the Gunners be out of title contention.
A 1-0 win over Newcastle guaranteed the north Londoners a spot in next season’s Champions League and all but ensured they finished second in the Premier League for a third season running.
However, it is now four seasons on the trot without a major trophy under Arteta’s watch, despite over £600million being spent.
Their only piece of major silverware came via the FA Cup in the 2019/2020 season – the Spaniard’s first in charge at the Emirates.
“I think Arteta’s got until Christmas… they will have to be in the top two at Christmas to keep on going,” Merson said on Sky Sports.
“Next season, if he gets to four seasons and no trophy… you can’t.
“Everybody wants to play for Arsenal, it’s not like they’re struggling to get players.
30 since September 2014, when Spanish midfielder Suso played his final game for the club.
Now-Sevilla star Suso was the eighth player to wear that jersey for the Reds, with Frimpong’s Dutch countryman Boudewijn Zenden the most notable.
Tony Warner, Daniele Padelli and Charles Itandje, Haukur Ingi Gudnason, Carl Medjani and Djimi Traore also wore it.

Eddie Howe admits he doesn't know whether Alexander Isak will be available for Newcastle's crucial final Premier League of the season.
Isak was a late withdrawal from the Magpies' trip to Arsenal today, a clash that the Gunners won 1-0.
And as I say, I'll be watching on."

THE GUNNERS HOLD ON TO SEAL VICTORY!
It's a result that confirms the club's spot in the Champions League next season as they join Premier League winners Liverpool.
It also finally breaks Arsenal's recent hoodoo against Newcastle, having lost all three of the pair's previous meetings this term.
Declan Rice's powerful second-half strike proves the difference at the Emirates, and the Gunners all but confirm a runners-up finish.

If the cheer for Havertz was loud, it pales in comparison to the noise made as Tierney comes on to replace Trossard.
It is the Scot's final outing at the Emirates, having already agreed a pre-contract agreement to rejoin Celtic this summer.
Despite his impending exit, Tierney remains a huge fan favourite among the Arsenal faithful.

Bukayo Saka is given a standing ovation from the Emirates as he departs on Arsenal's first game of the season.
The cheers are only made louder when the announcement booms out that Havertz is back.
The German has been sidelined since February after tearing his hamstring during the club's warm-weather training break in Dubai.

WHAT A THUNDEROUS STRIKE!
52 shots across four games with the Magpies this season, and Arteta's side have finally scored, but this one was worthy of the wait.
Gordon gets caught dribbling down a blind alley inside his own half, and Saka pinches his pocket.
He feeds his captain Odegaard, who rolls the ball back for Rice on the edge of the area, and the England international does the rest.

A massive change from the Gunners as their best defender, William Saliba, does not emerge for the second-half.
Riccardo Calafiori is the man on in his place, but Ben White will continue at right-back rather than move across.

No added time as one of the more entertaining goalless 45 minutes of football comes to an instant end.
Somehow, the scores are still level, with both teams having their goalkeepers to thank for preserving their clean sheets.
Nick Pope has been at full stretch to deny Thomas Partey from a corner, but it pales in comparison to David Raya's heroics.
The Arsenal No.1 has pulled out at least five top-class saves to deny the Magpies.

The whistle goes, and the visitors have kept their top-eight hopes alive with a second-half turnaround.
However, the Bees can all but kiss their dreams of a first European finish in the club's history goodbye.
Thomas Frank's side snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, having led 2-1 at home and missed a penalty.

HUGE DOUBLE SAVE FROM RAYA!
The Gunners goalkeeper has been at the best of his abilities during these opening 20 minutes to keep his side level.
First, he gets down quickly to tip an effort from Barnes around the corner after the winger had cut through the Arsenal backline.
From the resulting set-piece, Raya makes a brilliant reflex stop to deny Burn's near-post header.
The Spanish international then kicks away the rebound from the turf after Botman had tried to poke the loose ball home.

He's given a guard of honour by his team-mates as he's subbed off on his final appearance in a Leicester shirt.
Typically, Vardy is given a standing ovation by the King Power Stadium, having put his side on course for victory today.
The veteran striker signs off his Foxes career on 200 goals for the club, having scored the opener here on his 500th appearance.
Vardy is replaced by Daka, while the other goal scorer McAteer also depatts and is replaced by 16-year-old Evans.

TWO GOALS IN TWO MINUTES TO COMPLETE THE COMEBACK!
Wilson does it again against the Bees, scoring two late goals to turn the derby Fulham's way when these two met at Craven Cottage.
The Welshman has now delivered a dagger to Brentford's European dreams with a curler into the far corner.
Wrexham target Cairney had levelled it up just moments ago with a superb header, as the Bees defences come crumbling down.

A HUGE WIN FOR FOREST!!
What a blockbuster we have in store on the final game of the season as Nuno Espirito Santo's men host fellow top-five hopefuls Chelsea!
Nottingham Forest have won 10 Premier League away games this season, twice as many victories as they managed on the road in their previous two campaigns combined (5).
This was also the first time that West Ham have lost their final home game of a Premier League season since 2016-17.

LATE DRAMA AT THE LONDON STADIUM!
The Hammers almost snatch a late equaliser from a corner as the ball is floated in and Fullkrug rises highest from 10 yards.
The Irons striker plants his header straight at Sels, before Forest looks to launch a quick counter-attack.
However, play is instantly stopped for an off-the-ball incident as both sets of players get involved in pushing and shoving.
Paqueta and Murillo engage in a bit of wrestling, and suddenly all hell breaks loose.
Morato shoves Bowen in the face and escapes with only a yellow.
Soler and Murillo are both cautioned as well, while VAR checks and clears every other incident involving possible red cards.

We are back underway at the Gtech Community Stadium, but not before a delay.
The second half was slightly delayed due to the presence of a drone.
The referee brought the players over to the side of the pitch and could not initially begin the second half.
However, that has been cleared, and we are back underway after a few minutes stoppage.
It is not the first time a drone has delayed action at the Gtech.
Back in 2022, a similar incident in a match between Brentford and Wolves caused a significant stoppage.
Thankfully on this occasion, the drone came down after only a brief stoppage.

THAT IS SPICY!
Jarrod Bowen has just cracked one into the top corner to set up a nervy finish for Nottingham Forest.
A cross is popped into the box, and it drops for Bowen.
He instinctively flicks the ball up, and then as it drops, lashes a stunning strike into the roof of the net.

While all this other action has been going on, Brentford are 2-1 up over bitter rivals Fulham, and it's been an excellent first half.
The Cottagers opened the scoring through Raul Jimenez, but the hosts soon hit back through Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo then missed from the spot before Yoane Wissa scored.
The Bees are flying and are sitting on 58 points now.

MASSIVE GOAL!
Nottingham Forest take a corner short, and the ball is worked to Anthony Elanga.
He whips a delivery into the box that hits Nikola Milenkovic's back and ends up in the back of the net.
There is then one of the longest VAR checks I've ever seen for offside.
After six minutes, they finally decide that Nicolas Dominguez didn't touch the ball, and the goal stands.
It's fair to say Perry Groves isn't too happy.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Back at Stockley Park, they are completely spooked.
“We could see on the first frame that Dominguez did not touch the ball.
