Eddie Howe has not been able to provide an update on Alexander Isak's future at Newcastle.
The striker is refusing to play for the club amid long-term transfer interest from their Monday night opponents Liverpool.
With one week left of the transfer window, it remains to be seen if Isak will complete a move to Anfield.
But when asked on the striker's situation, Newcastle boss Howe had little to say.
"No, absolutely nothing to update you with unfortunately," he said to Sky Sports.
"We were training this morning and I was preparing for the game and I've had no updates on anything.
"I thought he played really well last week, albeit didn't score but I think he led the line really well and I expect him to do it again today."

Arsenal expect Bukayo Saka to be out for three to four weeks after a scan revealed a hamstring injury.
The forward limped off during the Gunners' 5-0 win over Leeds early in the second half after scoring his first goal of the season.
He will therefore miss the huge game at Anfield on Sunday, but the international break means he won't be absent for too many Gunners games.
There is better news for Martin Odegaard with his shoulder injury not severe, meaning he should be in contention to play this weekend.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Newcastle United are hopeful that Alexander Isak will return to training this week after the Liverpool game.
The striker wants to join the Reds and has been subject to a £110 million bid from Liverpool that was immediately rejected.
However, with time running out in the transfer window, the Magpies stance is shifting towards not selling their star man.
