Eddie Howe has been forced to withdraw from Newcastle's pre-match conference due to illness.

The Magpies boss was set to speak to the media on Friday to discuss Sunday's upcoming clash against Manchester United.

But the 47-year-old will be replaced by assistant boss Jason Tindall.

A statement read: "Due to illness, please note that Jason Tindall will take this morning's pre-match press conference as a replacement for Eddie Howe."

It remains unclear whether Howe will be in the dugout at St James' Park this weekend.

Newcastle go into their clash with United in fifth spot in the Premier League - the final Champions League spot.

Mohamed Salah's new deal will see him bank £400,000-a-week at Liverpool, talkSPORT understands.

The 32-year-old has officially put pen to paper on a two-year contract at Anfield.

He had been set to depart Merseyside this summer with his deal to expire at the end of the season.

But his future lies at Liverpool, with talkSPORT understanding he remains on his previous salary.

His contract, which includes bonuses, keeps him as one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League alongside Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.

Mohamed Salah has signed a new two-year deal at Liverpool to end any uncertainty over his future.

The Reds winger was set to become a free agent at the end of the season - leading to rumours over a move to Saudi Arabia.

Salah himself admitted he was 'more out than in' earlier in the campaign.

But he has since signed on the dotted line to give the Merseyside outfit a huge push as they close in on their second Premier League title.

The Egyptian has been the standout player in the top-flight this term - chipping in with 27 goals and 17 assists.

And he will be looking to mark his new deal by getting on the score sheet once again in Sunday's clash with Liverpool.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is expecting a very tense second leg in Germany next week.

Spurs were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Frankfurt tonight, meaning the quarter-final tie is still undecided.

"I can't ask any more of the lads," Postecoglou said.

If we repeat that performance we give ourselves a chance.

"I don't expect the second game to be to open, it'll be cagey affair and it'll come down to moments.

"The second leg is going to be tight for sure, it might even go to extra-time, we're going to need all the lads ready to go."

Man United legend Paul Scholes believes Ruben Amorim isn't telling the truth about his feelings on his team.

On Onana, the United boss told TNT Sports: “It’s important to focus on the next game for the league and then second leg.

“When one player has a mistake, the whole team makes a mistake.”

He was then asked about potentially dropping him going forward, to which he replied: “We continue to do the same thing.”

After that chat, Scholes assessed his comments and he wasn't sure that Amorim actually means what he said.

MAN UNITED HAVE WON IT!

And to restart the Europa League action, here's a stat Man United fans won't like to read...

Since the start of last season, no goalkeeper has made more errors leading to goals for Premier League clubs in all competitions than André Onana (8).

Troy Deeney live on talkSPORT: "Ruben Amorim will be buzzing with that as they have been terrible."
