Ezri Konsa hopes Aston Villa can kick on with their season after their 1-0 win over Bologna.

John McGinn's first half goal was enough for Unai Emery's side to open their Europa League campaign with three points.

Victory is Villa's first of the season in all competitions, and Konsa is keen for them to build upon Thursday night's success.

"My first season here we went through a similar thing, fighting against relegation," he told TNT Sports.

Now we are not scoring as much it just feels a bit low."

Rangers have lost their Europa League opener, and there's more boos from the fans at Ibrox.

Former Celtic star Oh Hyeon-gyu scored the winner for Genk, who had a second goal disallowed in the second half.

A late flurry of chances were missed by Rangers to put even more pressure on Russell Martin.

The full-time whistle was met by loud boos and jeers from the home support after a fifth defeat of the season.

Martin is seen making a swift exit down the tunnel.

Ollie Watkins' search for a goal this season continues, and he won't get a better chance than that.

The England international steps off the bench, and wins a spot kick.

He decides to take it, but it is a poor effort that is easily saved.

He and Aston Villa really needed that to go in as it remains 1-0 to the home side.

That is now seven penalties missed in his career, and he has only scored six.

THE FORMER CELTIC MAN GETS HIS GOAL!

He's missed chance after chance, but he's on the scoresheet at Ibrox.

The Rangers defenders falls to bits, and a pass is whipped through for Oh.

He strides towards goal and fires a low finish into the bottom corner before taking his shirt off and getting booked.

He could have had four goal this evening, but that was a well-taken goal.

Jack Butland is the hero!

The England goalkeeper dives to his right to stop Oh's effort.

It's not a great penalty, but the Gers shot-stopper still does well, and the score remains 0-0.

This has been a shambolic few minutes for Rangers, and it's got worse!

After being denied a penalty and being reduced to ten men, Rangers have now given away a spot kick.

James Tavernier is the man penalised for a trip on Yaimar Abel Medina Ortiz.

Oh to take...

Mohammed Diomande is off!

The midfielder dives into a challenge in midfield, and he wins the ball, but his foot goes over the top.

It catches the Genk player shin-high, and the referee has no hesitation in sending Diomande off.

What a shambolic last few minutes it has been for Russell Martin's men.

Rangers think they are about to award a penalty when the referee is sent to the screen.

It looks to be a cut and dry handball for the home side as James Tavernier heads it off Joris Kayembe.

The referee has a long look, and rather than awarding a spot kick, he gives a free-kick to Genk for a push by Tavernier in the back.

On TNT Sports, Ally McCoist describes the decision as a 'cop out' and that the referee took the 'easy way out'.

It's still goalless at Ibrox, but Genk will wonder how.

The Belgian side have been the much better of the two teams, and should have scored moments ago.

The ball is worked out to right-back Zakaria El Ouahdi.

He curls a cross into the box for Hyeon-gyu Oh.

The striker makes contact with the ball and fires over from six yards.

Patrik Hrosovsky has also now just hit the outside of the post.

It is all Genk in the early exchanges.

WHEN THEY NEEDED A GOAL, THEY HAVE ONE!

John McGinn strikes home a delightful half-volley from the edge of the area.

It comes from a well-worked corner that Morgan Rogers somehow misses.

But Bologna only clear as far as McGinn, and he strikes a a clean half-volley perfectly into the bottom corner.

That is their first goal at Villa Park this season.

Arsenal have now released a statement after the tragic passing of Billy Vigar.

The forward, who was playing for non-league Chichester City, was placed into an induced coma after an incident during their Isthmian League Premier Division clash on Saturday.

Chichester confirmed that Vigar suffered a 'significant brain injury' and was subsequently placed into an induced coma.

It was then announced by the non-league club on Thursday that Vigar has tragically passed away.

And Arsenal have now posted their response.

They said: "Everyone at Arsenal Football Club is deeply sorry to hear of the tragic passing of Chichester City forward and former Arsenal academy player, Billy Vigar.

"Billy joined our academy on schoolboy terms aged 14, after being scouted at his hometown club Hove Rivervale FC and excelled as a striker at Hale End, scoring 17 goals in his debut season.

In 2020, his performances earned him a scholarship and joined us full-time for the 2020/21 season, his intake including current players Charles Sagoe Jr, Remy Mitchell and others such as Omari Hutchinson, Charlie Patino and Brook Norton-Cuffy.

"Quick, powerful and fiercely determined, his first season as a scholar was blighted by a serious hamstring injury, but he made up for it in his second, scoring four goals in 18 under-18 appearances and signed professional terms for the club at the end of that 2021/22 season.

"Billy went on to appear for us in the PL2 and EFL Trophy and proved to be an asset across the forward positions and even deputised in defence – his versatility illustrating his commitment to the coaching staff and his team.

"He enjoyed loan spells at Derby County and Eastbourne Borough and at the end of the 2023/24 season,  headed back to his native south coast, signing for Hastings United – prior to a move to Chichester just last month.

"As well as his significant talent, Billy will always be remembered for his love of the game, pride at representing our football club - he once called the day he was spotted by our scouts as ’the most Important of his life’ – and a character beloved by teammates and coaches alike.

"Our deepest condolences go out to the Vigar family and his many friends at this extremely difficult time."

Former Arsenal prospect Billy Vigar has died aged 21.

A statement from Vigar's family read: "After sustaining a significant brain injury last Saturday, Billy Vigar was put into an induced coma.

"On Tuesday he needed an operation to aid any chances of recovery.

Although this helped, the injury proved too much for him and he passed away on Thursday (25th) morning.

"The responses to the original update show how much Billy was thought of and loved within the sport.

"His family are devastated that this has happened whilst he was playing the sport that he loved."

The incident happened in the 13th minute of Chichester's match against Wingate and Finchley on 20 September and the fixture was subsequently abandoned.

The details of what happened in the incident have not been confirmed.

Tottenham youngster Luka Vuskovic picked up a freak injury during his latest match on loan at Hamburg.

The Croatian defender joined the Bundesliga side for the season in August.

He has since made two appearances for Hamburg, including a man of the match display in their first win of the season on Saturday.

Vuskovic opened the scoring in their 2-1 home victory over Heidenheim despite breaking two fingers earlier in the match.

It stemmed from a missed chance with the score at 0-0, which prompted Vuskovic to punch the goalpost.

The injury did not stop the 18-year-old from going on to score minutes later.

Explaining the incident, Vuskovic said: "I probably broke a finger.

It will heal, don't worry."

Chelsea fans have taken aim at the club's ticket pricing and communication surrounding their Champions League fixtures.

The Blues face Benfica, Ajax, Barcelona and Pafos at Stamford Bridge during the league phase.

However, the club have been accused of 'communication failures' by the Chelsea Supporters' Trust (CST).

In a statement, they said: "The CST is deeply concerned with the club’s handling of ticket sales for upcoming UEFA Champions League fixtures.

"Recent decisions have been marked by poor communication, unjustifiable price increases, and a disregard for supporters.

"The message is clear – stop exploiting our loyalty."

The group have labelled the increase in the cost of a ticket for Tuesday's clash with Benfica 'unjustified'.

A ticket for the match will cost 77.5 per cent more than their Conference League semi-final last season.

The removal of concession pricing for seniors, under-20s and under-23s has also been condemned by supporters.

As a result, the CST has called on the club to 'review their ticket pricing strategy for Champions League fixtures, reinstate the concession pricing and communicate with more notice and transparency'.

The EFL have announced that Blackburn's Championship clash with Ipswich will be replayed in its entirety.

Rovers had been leading 1-0 when the match was abandoned after 79 minutes on Saturday.

The decision came following heavy rainfall at Ewood Park which left the pitch unplayable in the eyes of referee Stephen Martin.

At the time of the abandonment, the Tractor Boys were also down to 10 men following Jacob Greaves' red card.

In a statement, the EFL explained: "The Board comprehensively considered all options available in accordance with the Regulations alongside representations made by both Clubs.

"It was ultimately decided by a majority that the fixture should be replayed in full.

"The decision follows recent precedents relating to abandoned fixtures and is intended to uphold the integrity of the League competition which should, wherever possible, be based on a complete set of fixtures played to a conclusion on the day."

A new date for the fixture has yet to be confirmed.
