Liverpool will face Aston Villa on Monday, 13 May for Jurgen Klopp’s penultimate game as Liverpool boss and his last Premier League away game as a Red.
It will no doubt be an emotionally charged occasion, although the German and his players will be focused on getting the three points on the day.
A month ago, this game would have been billed as potential Premier League title decider for Liverpool.
However, a poor April has seen the Reds fall out of the title race – with Arsenal and Manchester City now battling it for England’s ultimate prize.
Instead, the game at Pride Park represents an opportunity to give the fans something to shout about and ensure Jurgen Klopp’s final games end on a high.
The Reds currently sit on 78 points, four behind Manchester City and five behind league leaders Arsenal.
For Liverpool to win the Premier League this season, we will obviously have to win our two games remaining, Man City draw one fixture and then lose two, and Arsenal to lose their last two matches.
Of course, the chances of that happening are slim to none, so the focus should be on enjoying the last moments with Jurgen Klopp.
Premier League announce match officials for Aston Villa vs Liverpool
As mentioned, Liverpool travel to Pride Park to face the Villains on Monday, 13 May.
The Premier League have now announced the match officials for the clash.
Simon Hooper is the on-field referee, and he will be assisted by Adrian Holmes and Tim Wood.
The fourth official has been named as Tim Robinson.
Meanwhile, VAR duties have been placed on the shoulder of Chris Kavanagh, with his assistant VAR being Mark Scholes.
