Liverpool have wasted no time in making moves in the summer transfer window having lifted the Premier League trophy.

With the season ending at last on Sunday, the Reds have already shifted into transfer mode, with Liverpool set to sign Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, with Milos Kerkez also saying yes to joining the Reds this summer.

As well as new signings, departures are set to be a key theme of Liverpool’s off-season moves, with a number of big-name players expected to depart Anfield over the summer as Arne Slot looks to trim down his squad and to bring in crucial funds for even more signings.

And Premier League side Brentford could be about to trigger the first major departure from Liverpool this summer.

According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, Brentford have made a move to sign Caoimhin Kelleher, with the Liverpool goalkeeper viewed as a replacement for Mark Flekken, who looks set to join Erik Ten Hag’s Bayer Leverkusen.

Kelleher hinted that he could leave Liverpool after Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, with the Republic of Ireland international regarded by many as the best backup goalkeeper in the English top-flight.

With Giorgi Mamardashvili expected to remain at Liverpool having returned from his loan spell at Valencia this season, selling Kelleher could be a good decision for all parties, especially to a club like Brentford, who challenged for a European spot in the Premier League under Thomas Frank.

And with Brentford also doing business with Liverpool last summer in signing Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg, talks between the two clubs for Kelleher could be short and sweet, with the 26-year-old seemingly itching to leave for first-team football this summer.

Virgil van Dijk once lauded Kelleher as ‘world-class’ as the Cork-born shot-stopper this season firmly proved himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League despite acting as Alisson Becker’s deputy.

And with Brentford making an approach for the 26-year-old, this deal could prove to be an exceptionally good one for all parties involved, with Liverpool likely to receive a good fee for Kelleher, who, in turn, gets to become a regular in the Premier League with one of the most ambitious sides in the division.

Kelleher leaving Liverpool felt like a certainty heading into the summer, and a deal to take the goalkeeper to west London could now be completed in the coming weeks if Brentford are quick enough to match the Anfield side’s demands for the Irishman.
