Chelsea will reportedly rival Manchester United for the signature of Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho - but only if Eden Hazard finally makes his long-anticipated move to Real Madrid .

A report in France from Telefoot suggests that the Brazilian is one of two names at the very top of Chelsea's wish list as contingencies in the eventuality that their star playmaker opts to call time on his Stamford Bridge career.

The 23 year-old scored as Lille demolished Paris Saint Germain 5-1 on what had been set up to be PSG's title-winning party, and gave a performance that is only likely to have left the champions feeling further covetous of their transfer target.

Real have struggled badly both domestically and in Europe since the Portuguese left in the summer of 2018, and will likely test the Blues' resolve to hold onto their man with a bid during the transfer window.

It is looking increasingly likely that Hazard will leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, with new Real boss Zinedine Zidane a known admirer of the former Lille forward and looking at attacking options to fill the hole left in his team by Cristiano Ronaldo's departure.

The other prime target for Maurizio Sarri is Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, though the Portuguese is also wanted by a host of top clubs around Europe.

He riled some sections of the club's support when he celebrated scoring against United in the Champions League last week by approaching the home fans and sticking his fingers in his ears, a gesture for which he was chastised by his manager, Ernesto Valverde.
