Harvey Elliott looks to be on a growing list of Liverpool players who will depart Anfield this summer.
Darwin Nunez is candidate to be sold with Napoli growing increasingly confident that they will land their man.
Federico Chiesa wants to return to Serie A ahead of the 2026 World Cup, while Andy Robertson’s future is not clear after an approach from Atletico Madrid.
What’s clear with all of these players is their need for game-time, and Elliott is no different.
Elliott, who joined the Reds’ first team in 2019, has grown increasingly frustrated by his limited opportunities on Merseyside.
During the 2023/24 campaign, Elliott featured prominently across all competitions.
He logged 1,335 minutes in the Premier League over 34 appearances, contributing three goals and nine assists.
Across Europa League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup fixtures, he added a further 1,451 minutes.
In stark contrast, Elliott managed only 360 minutes in Premier League play during 2024/25, spread over eight substitute appearances and two starts after the title had been secured.
His total time on the pitch across all competitions amounted to just 826 minutes – a drop of over 1,900 minutes compared to the previous season.
Despite flashes of quality, including a critical goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Elliott’s peripheral role has prompted speculation over his future.
And now it looks like some of Liverpool’s competitors are willing to take him off Arne Slot’s hands.
The Sunday Mirror (via One Football) reports that Aston Villa are currently leading the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott this summer, setting themselves apart from several other Premier League clubs reportedly interested in the 22-year-old.
Villa are prepared to meet Liverpool’s £30 million valuation for Elliott, who is eager to secure more consistent first-team football.
Liverpool’s midfield has become increasingly crowded with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch, and the club’s ongoing pursuit of Florian Wirtz suggests even less opportunity for Elliott moving forward.
Aston Villa, under Unai Emery, are looking to strengthen their squad and see Elliott as a valuable addition who can offer creativity and versatility across attacking midfield and wide positions.
The England U21 international seemed to hint that his time was up at Anfield towards the end of this past season, saying:
“It’s been hard with how much I’ve played.
