Liverpool are already eyeing their next target as Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez look set to arrive at Anfield.

talkSPORT understands that the Reds are now interested in signing Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.

Wirz is on the verge of completing a British-record £116million move from Bayer Leverkusen to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Kerkez's £40million switch from Bournemouth is almost done, with the pair following Jeremie Frimpong through the door.

It means the Premier League champions' total spending this summer is already set to be over £185million - but they're not stopping there.

The Magpies had four bids rejected for the 24-year-old last summer, with the last of those being a £65million offer.

That ended up with them walking away from negotiations, as Palace had asked for even more money.

Liverpool will be aware of the struggles to pry away one of the Premier League's best centre-backs from Selhurst Park.

But they will also know that with Guehi's contract running out next summer, the Eagles' asking price is likely to have dropped.

They are also in need of a centre-back, with Jarell Quansah expected to depart once Wirtz officially joins Liverpool.

Deeney told talkSPORT: "I can see him in a Liverpool shirt.

"I think Crystal Palace are going to lose either Guehi or [Eberechi] Eze, whichever they decide to let go.

"I think he would work great next to Van Dijk, that's a long-term succession plan for Liverpool.

"But Liverpool are not messing about.

I do think Liverpool have laid it down to everybody now, saying: 'This is what we're going to do., come and catch us if you can'."

On the money Liverpool have spent this summer, Deeney added: "It's actually not going to be a huge net spend either.

"They've had Kelleher leave, talk of Robertson going, so there's going to be a few to make sure they don't spend as much as it sounds."

Caiomhin Kelleher departed Anfield for Brentford earlier this summer, while Andrew Robertson has been linked with an exit too.

Liverpool received a package worth up to £18million for their back-up goalkeeper, and Robertson leaving would bring in more cash.

The Scottish left-back, who Kerkez could now take the starting place of, is open to moving to Spain, with Atlético Madrid interested.

Combining those two departures with the £25million fee for Quansah brings down the Reds' net spend.

They would have already recovered over £40million of their £185million splash once Quansah officially leaves the club.

Should Robertson go too, they'd make back even more.

And that could well free up enough cash to tempt Crystal Palace into parting ways with Guehi this summer.
