The Premier League are set to introduce a new set of training ground broadcasting rules that will come into effect next season.
The 2025/26 season is fast approaching, and Liverpool are already getting themselves ready to go again.
The Reds enjoyed the 2024/25 season, as they lifted the Premier League title in front of their fans for the first time in over 30 years.
The season also saw the Reds reach the Carabao Cup final, only to be narrowly beaten by Newcastle United.
Still, it was a memorable season for Liverpool and Arne Slot, who became one of few Premier League managers to win the title in his first season in charge.
With the new season fast approaching, preparations are in full swing to ensure that Slot and his team are ready when the first ball is kicked.
Four first-team signings have been announced so far, and many more are expected before the window closes.
With Liverpool not in the FIFA Club World Cup, the club’s senior players are expected to report back to pre-season training in the coming days.
Liverpool have a series of pre-season games lined up in Asia, including games against AC Milan and Athletic Bilbao.
Ahead of the new season, the Premier League have introduced some new broadcasting rules across the board.
Last week, we reported that the Premier League will undergo sweeping broadcasting changes ahead of 2025/26
Part of the rules set to be introduced will be that broadcasters will be able to interview players who have just been substituted, right near the touchline, while the match continues.
These interviews will happen after players have had a chance to cool down.
The report also revealed that Camera operators will also be allowed onto the pitch for brief moments to capture close-up footage of goal celebrations, using Steadicam technology.
And now The Daily Mail has announced another broadcasting rule to be introduced next season.
According to the publication, top-flight clubs have agreed to have their training sessions completely filmed.
“Premier League training sessions – with managers and players mic’d up and wearing cameras – are set to be broadcast this season,” Sportsmail said.
“Mail Sport understands clubs have agreed to throw open their practice facility doors at least once per campaign, with film crews capturing previously unseen footage from behind-the-scenes.
However, under an amendment to Section K of the Premier League rules, each club must now grant the League’s production partner access to film a 30-minute ‘Enhanced Training Session’, with at least one player, plus the manager or a coach, wired up for audio.”
Under the current arrangement, broadcasters are only allowed training ground access around once per month, purely just to film footage that can be used to go alongside reporting and coverage.
However, the new plan will see more access for the managers and players.
According to the report, “clubs must submit a shortlist of five recent starters for the League to pick from, and the player could end up sporting a body cam should they agree to do so.
The report also added that “clubs can choose to shoot the footage themselves, but must still meet the League’s production brief.
