Giovanni van Bronckhorst is in line to join Liverpool’s backroom staff.
Van Bronckhorst will replace John Heitinga, who rejoined Ajax as their new head coach earlier this month, as Arne Slot’s third in command at Anfield.
The 50-year-old was one of Slot’s predecessors at Feyenoord, taking the reins for four years before leaving at the end of the 2018/19 campaign.
He delivered the Eredivisie title and two KNVB Cups in his native city while enjoying success at Rangers, who also reached the Europa League final.
But Van Bronckhorst has been out of work since a five-month spell with Besiktas ended last November despite winning the Turkish Super Cup.
The former utility man is already familiar with the Premier League, having been a part of Arsenal’s title-winning team which pipped the Reds in 2001/02.
He also enjoyed a success-laden period at Barcelona, where he won two La Liga titles and the Champions League before rejoining his boyhood club.
