'Prepared to leave': Liverpool exit now 'expected to accelerate' and he could even leave on loan - Romano

Liverpool still have work to do in the transfer market as the window enters its final two weeks.

The Reds have done plenty of wheeling and dealing so far this summer, and Richard Hughes deserves enormous credit for leading those efforts.

Although there have been a number of eye-catching additions to the Liverpool squad, some of Hughes’ best work has been in terms of outgoings.

Liverpool are set to sell Ben Doak to Bournemouth for £25m in what looks like the latest piece of excellent selling by the Reds.

There is likely to be more to come, with Kostas Tsimikas one of those potentially on the chopping block.

Tsimikas was left out of Liverpool‘s win over Bournemouth on Friday, and according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, he is moving ever closer to the Anfield exit door.

While Liverpool have made big sums from sales this summer, Tsimikas is unlikely to bring a huge amount back in.

Signed for less than £12m in 2020, the 29-year-old is now third choice for Arne Slot and his value will likely reflect that.

Indeed, as Romano posted on X late on Sunday evening, Liverpool have now even opened the door to Tsimikas leaving on loan in the last days of the transfer window.

“Kostas Tsimikas exit, expected to accelerate as Liverpool could also open to potential initial loan proposals,” said the reporter.

“The left back is prepared to leave as Kerkez and Andy Robertson will be the LBs for Arne Slot.”

Tsimikas has been an excellent servant for Liverpool since his arrival five years ago.

He may not have ever really taken over the starting spot from Andy Robertson, but he has been a fantastic back-up.

However, Kerkez has arrived as Slot’s first choice and Robertson clearly still has plenty to offer as well.

It feels unlikely that the offers they are fielding for the Greek are especially high.

As a result, a loan may now be the most likely move for Tsimikas over the next fortnight.

That would leave Liverpool with the option of selling him next summer – when Robertson’s contract is due to expire – or reintegrating him back in as Kerkez’s back-up if Robertson does leave.

Either way, it looks very likely that Tsimikas will not be a Liverpool player this season.
