Alan Hutton has claimed it could cost Liverpool £148million in transfer fees and wages to replace Mohamed Salah as contract talks continue at Anfield.

Hutton suggested Liverpool would have to spend up to £70million on transfer fees and hand out a £300,000-a-week, five-year contract on Salah’s replacement.

As detailed by Football Insider back in October, Salah wants a £500,000-a-week, four-and-a-half-year deal, worth a total of £117million.

Speaking to GQ (11 January), Salah insisted he is “not asking for crazy stuff” in discussions and that the club “know what I want”.

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Reds would be better off giving the 29-year-old “what he wants”.

Then you’re going to give them a five-year contract on £200-300,000-a-week.
