Michael Owen admitted that Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate ‘worries him’ after the defender’s first-half display against Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

“Konate worries me a little bit, I must say.

It was not a vintage Liverpool display and the visitors played their part.

The match at Anfield was goalless at the break, but the visitors had a number of opportunities to take the lead in an opening 45 minutes in which they looked dangerous.

“It’s a huge game for Porto and they have got in once or twice,” Owen told BT Sport during their first-half analysis.

Konate was also booked on the hour mark, although his performance did improve slightly after the break.

“He presses a little bit, he comes in and likes to mark men and a lot of the time he gets done in behind.
