Daniel Levy’s exit from Tottenham could be the catalyst for the club to be sold in the near future.

That is the verdict of football finance expert Dan Plumley, who told Football Insider exclusively that Spurs will be the next big Premier League side to be sold.

Levy left Tottenham after 25 years of being the club’s chairman on 4 September, with Peter Charrington replacing the British businessman.

Under his stewardship, Spurs became one of the Premier League’s best business models, but that often came at the expense of on-pitch performance.

That all changed last year when Tottenham beat Man United in the Europa League final, ending their 17-year trophy drought and earning a place in the Champions League for this season.

But without Levy at the helm, the club may be more receptive to the idea of a sizeable investment.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Plumley explained that whilst Levy’s exit was not a source of guarantee, the likelihood of Tottenham being sold had increased since his departure.

He said: “It was always bound to get people talking, wasn’t it?

“I’ve always said I think they’re the next big club in the Premier League that we’ll see getting taken over, and there’s nothing that’s changed my mind on that too much.

“I guess this is a factor where you’re putting two and two together and thinking that could be a catalyst for it to move quicker.”

With a takeover seemingly imminent in North London, some of the wealthiest individuals in the world are likely to be monitoring the situation closely.

Sources have told Football Insider exclusively that Amanda Staveley and Qatari investors are in talks over buying Tottenham.

However, the British businesswoman and her partners are not the only group in talks with Spurs, as US-based investors are also keen on acquiring the club.
