Jarell Quansah said, “This is goodbye for now” in his Instagram post after completing a move to Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old defender joined the German side for an initial fee of £30m from the Merseyside club.
Liverpool have also included a buy-back clause worth €60m, which will be active from 2027, as per various sources.
The defender has been part of Liverpool since 2008, when he was just five years old.
Reports suggest that Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi is the favourite to replace him at Anfield.
As Quansah moves to Bayer Leverkusen for now, he shared a message on Instagram that may have hinted at a possible return to Anfield in the future.

The defender shared: “From the moment I walked through the doors of the Academy at 5 years old, I dreamed of one day wearing the Liverpool shirt at Anfield.
This is goodbye for now, but I’ll always be watching – once a Red, always a Red.”
As Liverpool have the option to bring him back in 2027 for a fee of €60m plus add-ons, Quansah looks like he might also want to wear the Red jersey again in the future.
