The former Everton midfielder said: “You would question the Rangers board if they are ok with this start to the season…”

Sitting 10th in the league (as of 13 September) and having crashed out of the Champions League in embarrassing style, the Ibrox is in a dark place right now.

The Englishman was hailed to be the man to take the Gers back to the golden days after struggling for numerous seasons.

Furthermore, Martin had once played for the blue half of Glasgow and possesses a deep understanding of what it means to play for the club.

However, his appointment has brought little joy in the first two months as fans continue to grow angry and impatient with the ex-Saints manager’s tactics and style.

Yet, sacking the former Swansea City boss may not be the answer with limited options in the managerial market and the Ibrox most certainly not a lucrative place to coach currently.

The board may continue to back the shaky project of Martin but the foundations have already broken as the walls continue to cave in in Glasgow.
