After clinching a record-tying 20th Premier League title in Arne Slot’s debut season, Liverpool enter the 2025 summer transfer window with high ambition.

Despite a relatively quiet transfer window last summer, when only one player was signed, expectations are high for a more active period this time around.

The Reds are also expected to continue strengthening their squad as they prepare to defend their English crown in the 2025–26 season.

Liverpool are, meanwhile, exploring options for some of their young players, with Harvey Elliott potentially set to leave before the transfer window closes.

Elliott did not start a single significant Premier League game last season and has attracted interest from clubs including RB Leipzig, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Brighton.

Part of England’s squad for the European Under-21 Championship in Slovakia this summer, he made just 18 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, 16 of them as a substitute.

His only two starts came in defeats to Chelsea and Brighton after the Reds had already secured the Premier League title in Arne Slot’s first season in charge.

In total, the 22-year-old featured in 28 games across all competitions, including six starts, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

Elliott earlier revealed that he does not want to “waste years” in his career, and he will assess his future at Liverpool this summer.

“It’s just a situation that me and the team have to have a conversation about because I’m coming into an age now where I’m 22, I’m going to be 23 next season,” said the Englishman.

“I don’t really want to be wasting years on my career because it’s a short career.

You don’t know what’s going to happen.

“I need to reflect.

I need to see if I’m content in doing what I’m doing and how can I improve as a player because that’s the most important thing.

“I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself.

If that’s to go somewhere else, then it’s a decision that I’m going to have to make and I just need to see what happens.

“Nothing makes me want to leave.

But most importantly, it’s just about what’s best for my career.”

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, RB Leipzig have agreed personal terms with Harvey Elliott, who is a top target to replace Xavi Simons.

Plettenberg posted on X: “Harvey #Elliott is RB Leipzig’s top target to replace Xavi Simons, who is set to move to Chelsea after the Bundesliga opener against FC Bayern.

“Leipzig have agreed personal terms with the 22 y/o playmaker Elliott?

#LFC keen to let him go with a suitable offer.”
