Rafa Benitez has been discussing some of the challenges the new Liverpool manager will have next season.

By now, everyone is aware that Jurgen Klopp will be departing at the end of the season after announcing his intention to step down at the end of the season.

Under his leadership, the club have won almost every trophy imaginable including the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and more.

However, he has seen it fit to call time on a wonderful period at the club that saw him breathe life into a fallen giant.

The German has been the Reds boss since 2015, and it will be strange to see another manager in the Anfield dugout next season.

As Liverpool prepares for a new managerial era, the search for Jurgen Klopp’s successor is intensifying.

Sporting CP’s Rúben Amorim currently leads the list of potential candidates, although he recently denied rumors of any finalized agreement with Liverpool.

Amorim’s impressive track record with Sporting, marked by tactical acumen and silverware, earmarks him as a fitting contender for the role.

But Rafa Benitez has explained that no matter who takes charge, it will be a tricky job for them to navigate.

What did Rafa Benitez say about the new Liverpool manager?

Rafa Benitez was Liverpool’s coach from 2004 to 2010 and is well-remembered by the club’s supporters for winning the FA Cup and Champions League.

Now managing La Liga side Celta Vigo, the Spaniard is an experienced manager who knows the hardships of the job:

“To manage a top side, especially now with such good players and so much money, you need a special character,” Benitez began via Sky Sports.

“It’s very difficult to replace someone like Klopp and everyone expects the next manager to win.”

“In my experience, it’s not easy when you go in after a successful manager.”

“There are too many things that you don’t want to change, but you have to adapt to your mentality and style.”

“This transition is always difficult.”

“When I signed for Liverpool they told me I had three years just to compete, so any manager will need time.”

The Spaniard succeeded Gérard Houllier when he took the helm at Liverpool in the summer of 2004.

The former Liverpool manager also touched on the title race after a disappointing weekend for the Reds, saying:

“Manchester City is playing with a lot of confidence?

Liverpool had some bad luck with the finishing because there was some chances against Palace but it was still complicated.”

“City has a good squad and can change three or four players and still win easily, so it know the strengths that it has.”

“Can I see them making similar mistakes as Liverpool and Arsenal did this weekend.

But at the same time, the others could make mistakes so I think City has a great advantage.”
