Raheem Sterling has been told to resist the “temptation” and take action regarding his current situation at Chelsea.
Both Fulham and West Ham held an interest in Sterling during the latter stages of the transfer window, but a move never materialised for the winger.
The 30-year-old now has limited options if he wants to make a Stamford Bridge exit, with only Turkey and Saudi Arabia realistic possibilities.
Chelsea could look to terminate Sterling’s contract in order to get him off the books, but such a move would cost the club around £10million.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the former England international should consider reaching an agreement with the Blues to cancel his current deal.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Sterling may be comfortable sitting in the reserves at Chelsea and continuing to pick up his paycheck.

The former Liverpool and Manchester City attacker is believed to be on around £300,000 per week.
However, Wyness added that Sterling should not give in to the temptation of an easy wage and look for a move away from Chelsea.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Look, it’s not going to be a happy situation apart from Raheem sitting there and taking his paycheck, which is going to be lovely to count every week.
“It’s not going to end well, and not the way he’d have wanted to go out of the game.
“He’s got his tens of millions, but it’s not the great situation, and he certainly doesn’t look like he can contribute to the Chelsea squad at the moment.
It’s going to be one of those where the club have got him as a cost on their wage bill and I don’t really see any way forward.
So it’s up to him now, the ball is really in his court.
“This is where players, if they really believe in themselves, if they really believe in their football, then they should make that move.
But as I say, it’s a big temptation to sit there and take that £300k a week.”
Sterling is on a big wage at Chelsea
Meanwhile, Axel Disasi could reportedly complete a move away from Chelsea in the next few days, with the Saudi Pro League transfer window open until 23 September.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that Enzo Maresca is keen to sell the 27-year-old, who has no part in his plans.
A proposed switch to Bournemouth fell through earlier in the window, while the defender is believed to have snubbed moves to West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Wolves.
Football Insider revealed on 27 August that Chelsea are aiming to sell players to Saudi clubs as they look to shift members of Maresca’s “bomb squad”.
