Rasmus Hojlund is set to make the final decision on his Man United future as a crucial condition has emerged as part of a deal with Napoli.

After having a woeful time in Manchester, the Dane is on the prowl to force a move away from Old Trafford with the club eager to get him off their books.

Man United signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig to be the man to replace Hojlund, although the Slovenian is yet to get off the mark for his new club.

With Ruben Amorim facing a possible sack at Man United, now doesn’t seem like a bad time for the former Atalanta striker to jump ship with Italian side Napoli on the verge of bringing him to Italy.

According to a report by The Athletic (29 August), the Red Devils have agreed a deal with the southern Italian side for the Denmark international which includes a “conditional obligation of €44million (£38m)”.

The clause to sign “permanently” would activate if Napoli qualify for the Champions League, which would see United “receive a significant loan fee” upon the completion of the permanent signing.

However, critically, Hojlund “is still to agree to the move” as he has voiced his “desire” to stay at Old Trafford despite being an outcast under Amorim.

At this point, with the way the Old Trafford ship is sinking under the leadership of Amorim, I’m surprised Hojlund is even considering staying aboard.

The club continues to be in a perilous situation, which pretty much collided with the arrival of the 22-year-old two seasons ago.

A chance to move back to Italy where he really began to flourish in his career seems to be a no-brainer, leaving me perplexed to why he wants to stay in England.

During his only campaign with Atalanta, the Denmark international netted nine times in 32 games in the Serie A which caught the eye of United.

Moreover, given the injury to Romelu Lukaku, there is an easy opening for a striker role that needs to be filled, giving him an even greater chance of performing better, particularly in time for the World Cup.

So, my dear Rasmus, to save you career and stay afloat, get on that plane to Naples and say “ciao” to the messy state of Old Trafford – it is an obvious choice!
