Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri has a clause in his contract that means his former club, Angers, would be due 50 per cent of any profit that the Molineux club were to make on his prospective sale.
Ait-Nouri has emerged as one of the most exciting left-sided players in the Premier League this season, attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
Liverpool is prioritizing a move for Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez, but Ait-Nouri is also on the club's list of left-back targets as it considers possible long-term replacements for Andy Robertson.
Robertson, who has endured a difficult season on an individual level, turned 31 in March, while Kostas Tsimikas, who will also enter his 30s next season, has not shown enough to suggest he is capable of replacing the Scotland international as a first-team regular.

Wolves is determined to keep hold of Ait-Nouri and intends to offer him an improved contract as a reward for his improved form and consistency this easeason.
However, should the club decide to cash in on the Algeria international, it will be required to hand over 50 per cent of any money it makes on top of the £10 million ($13 million) fee that it paid for Ait-Nouri in 2021.
Considering Ait-Nouri is valued by Wolves at £50 million ($67 million), that would mean the club would have to pay Angers £20 million ($27 million).
Curiously, though, the club can remove that clause by paying Angers a flat £9 million ($12 million) fee, which is clearly a no-brainer considering the transfer fee that the club could expect to receive for Ait-Nouri.
Wolves, though, have no intention of selling Ait-Nouri, particularly considering the club could lose talisman Matheus Cunha, who is a target for Manchester United.

United is preparing to overhaul its squad during the summer transfer window after an awful season in the Premier League, and Cunha is a prime target.
Wolves and Manchester United are two of few teams in the Premier League that operate with 3-4-3 formations, which would help to ease Cunha's adaptation to Ruben Amorim's system.
Cunha's contract at Wolves contains a £62.5 million ($83 million) releause clause, which United is reportedly preparing to trigger during the off-season.
If that happens, Wolves would be under little financial pressure to sell Ait-Nouri too, and would be more likely to focus on making him an even more important member of Vitor Pereira's team.
