It is possible that Real Madrid had been tapping up Alexander-Arnold for quite some time before his move to Spain, as he turned down multiple offers to stay at Liverpool.

Now, Marca have revaled that Real Madrid have now started working on another Liverpool player who is set to become a free agent next summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

Ibrahima Konate’s current contract at Liverpool runs out in the summer of 2026 and talks have stalled over a ne contract as a sizeable gap remains between the club’s offers and the player’s expectations.

According to reports, Konate is seeking a 150% increase on his current deal that will see him earn £200,000 a week and move into the top echelon of Liverpool’s earners.

However, as time goes on and pressure continues to mount, Real Madrid and Paris St.

Germain are spotting an opportunity.

Now, it appears that Real Madrid are making moves already.

As per Marca, Real Madrid are long-term admirers of Ibrahima Konate, and they have started work on a deal to bring him to the club next summer.

Liverpool are desperate to avoid another situation similar to Alexander-Arnold, and so will continue to work to tie their star centre-back down to a new contract.

The club will be looking to keep as many of their stars as possible as they look to embark on a dominant era under Arne Slot, built off the success of him winning a Premier League in his first season in charge.
