Real Madrid have  reportedly entered the race for a key midfield target also being pursued by Liverpool.

The Reds have been working quietly behind the scenes to identify players who fit Slot’s tactical demands.

A midfielder with passing range, composure, and positional discipline is high on the list.

It’s no surprise that Liverpool have looked towards the Bundesliga, a league known for developing technically sound midfielders.

However, they’re not the only ones shopping in that market.

Real Madrid, already planning for a post-Modric are also active.

Real Madrid have added VfB Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller to their summer shortlist, according to Marca.

“Other names include Milan’s Reijnders, who has also appeared on the scene, as reported by Radio MARCA, and 24-year-old German international midfielder Angelo Stiller of Stuttgart.”

“The Dutchman, who scored at the Bernabéu in the Champions League this season, is wanted by Manchester City, and in England his arrival at Guardiola’s side is considered a sure thing.”

Now, given his performance with Alonso, he’s back in the spotlight.”

“Stiller is the most organized of the three, and his price tag is around €40 million.”

The 24-year-old German international has impressed incoming Madrid manager Xabi Alonso with his consistent Bundesliga performances.

Alonso sees midfield as a priority ahead of the Club World Cup and wants Stiller among his top signings.

Stiller has become one of Europe’s most watched midfielders since joining Stuttgart from Hoffenheim in 2023.

He finished last season with eight assists in 32 league matches and played a key role in Stuttgart’s Bundesliga runner-up campaign.

Despite a slight drop in Stuttgart’s form this year, Stiller has remained consistent.

Stiller’s passing numbers support this.

He averages 1.97 key passes and 9.12 passes into the final third per game.

His ability to control tempo and progress the ball has caught attention across Europe.

Liverpool fans are already familiar with his name.

Local paper Stuttgarter Nachrichten confirmed the Reds’ interest, adding that a fee of “approximately €60 million (£51 million) could tempt Stuttgart into selling”—despite Stiller only recently extending his deal until 2028.

Madrid’s interest now changes the dynamics.

With both clubs targeting the same profile, Liverpool must act fast or risk missing out.
