A football team’s engine room can often be the difference between success or failure on a football pitch.
Liverpool have been praised on many occasions for boasting one of the best midfields in Europe this season.
The likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have shone in an already brilliant Liverpool side this season; a big reason for why they are Premier League champions.
Ryan Gravenberch in particular is a man reborn under Arne Slot as he has found the keys to unlock the magic of the Dutch midfielder, something Jurgen Klopp failed to do during his time as manager.
Alexis Mac Allister has also impressed.
Often an unsung hero as the season has progressed, he has been vital to getting his team over the line in this season’s title race, scoring some crucial goals in the run-in.
Very much a modern day midfielder, with the ability to attack and defend, he has proved that he can have a long and successful career on Merseyside, if he chooses to stay for a sustained period of time.
Due to such high levels of performance this season, the Argentine is attracting interest from other big clubs across Europe, with Real Madid particularly keen.
Mac Allister recently expressed his love for Liverpool, and his wishes to continue at the club, but that hasn’t made the transfer chatter go away.
Marca have now published a recent report, detailing Real Madrid’s continued interest in the midfielder.
The report goes on to state: “The name that has sounded the most for the center of the field is none other than that of Mac Allister.
The problem with the Argentine is that he belongs to Liverpool, the same team of the first reinforcement of Real Madrid’s 25/26, who is none other than Alexander-Arnold.”
The article explains how Jude Bellingham’s physical condition is a concern due to the amount of games he has played at such a young age and it has raised questions that he may need help in the midfield going forward and Real Madrid could look to Mac Allister to be the answer.
The England star has played with a shoulder injury for the majority of the season, sporting a shoulder pad for many months now.
The time will come for him to take time out to rebuild that shoulder and in the absence of such an important part of their team, Real Madrid will want another top midfielder to take his place.
Despite interest, Real Madrid’s primary focus is to shore up the defence, as they have slipped to a difficult end to the season that sees them falling behind in the title race an exiting the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.
