The La Liga side appears to have made the first step in any potential signing of Ibrahima Konate.

There is increasing uncertainty surrounding Konate’s future at Liverpool, as despite enjoying a hugely successful time at the club since arriving in 2021, in which he won four trophies with the club, talks are stalling over a contract extension.

We all know the pull that Real Madrid and Barcelona have, but it would hurt the club deeply if Ibrahima Konate was to follow in the footsteps of Trent Alexander-Arnold just one year on.

As a result, the idea is being floated around that Liverpool could look to cash in on Ibrahima Konate this summer to recoup any sort of transfer fee before he leaves for nothing next summer.

Football Espana have reported that Liverpool would be willing to let the French defender leave the club during this transfer window for 50m euros but Real Madrid are reportedly not willing to meet this price, with their cut off being between 20-25m.

This is down to their belief that Konate won’t sign a contract extension for Liverpool and will leave for free following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

Their information reveals that Real Madrid have asked Liverpool what type of offer might convince them to sell Ibrahima Konate this summer.

That has blown the situation wide open, and it is now a real possibility that Los Blancos are exploring the possibility of bringing Konate to the club as soon as possible.

This could shake up Liverpool’s transfer plans, as losing a centre-back as talented as Konate could prove to be costly if a suitable replacement isn’t found.
