Real Madrid have confirmed that Liverpool icon Xabi Alonso will be their new head coach with Reds defender Trent Alexander-Arnold on the verge of a departure.
The Spaniard is set to be unveiled after leaving Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season, but the news also brings the English full-back's exit one step closer.
Alonso will officially succeed Carlo Ancelotti at the beginning of June, signing a three-year deal at the Bernabeu.
Alexander-Arnold is widely regarded to follow the former Anfield hero to the Spanish capital after running down his Liverpool contract.
The 43-year-old guided Leverkusen to dizzying heights during his two-and-a-half-year spell with Die Werkself after taking charge of the club facing relegation.
