Liverpool are yet to make a summer signing despite links with a move to sign Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.
The Reds have seen the Jurgen Klopp era come to an end but not without a parting message from the German.
Taking in the adulation of the Anfield crowd for the final time on the last day of the 2023-24 season, Klopp belted out a song of his own.
‘Arne Slot, la la la la la’ sang Klopp, effectively announcing Dutchman Slot as his replacement before Liverpool were in a position to announce the move.
Slot has made the move from Feyenoord and has already stamped his impression on the team with Harvey Elliott praising his ‘elegant’ football.
Slot hasn’t yet been given a new signing to work with though with Liverpool going through a very quiet summer.

Liverpool may remain quiet in the final weeks of the window but one name which just isn’t going away is that of Anthony Gordon.
The Newcastle United winger hails from Merseyside and actually grew up supporting Liverpool despite coming through the Everton ranks.
Gordon impressed for Newcastle last season with 11 goals and 10 assists in 35 Premier League games.
The 23-year-old has become one of the Premier League’s most dangerous wingers and Amanda Staveley confirmed Liverpool’s interest in July.
Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on a potential Anfield move amid suggestions of a potential exchange involving Joe Gomez.
Carragher has told the Blood Red podcast that he thinks such a swap move would have been to help Newcastle United in terms of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Newcastle ended up selling Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh instead and managed to comply with the PSR.
However, Carragher would still love to see Gordon join Liverpool though and would be ‘really interested’ in such a move materialising this month.
That may be difficult to pull off but Carragher is holding out hope that Gordon will end up at Liverpool one way or another.
“The Anthony Gordon and Gomez one.
I think that was maybe out of our hands and that was more of a Newcastle transfer in terms of the PSR,” said Carragher.
“That was a transfer I would’ve liked to have seen go through and if there is still something in that between now and the end of the window, that is something I would be really interested in us doing, whether that is just Anthony Gordon or Joe Gomez being involved,” he added.
Signing a defensive midfielder is the priority right now, certainly with Liverpool already having a number of players who can play on the left flank.
Cody Gakpo plays there for the Netherlands whilst Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota can fill in there if needed.
There is though some lingering concern over the future of Luis Diaz – Liverpool’s first-choice left winger.
HITC understands that Barcelona are interested in signing Diaz and could still make a move this summer.
If Diaz does move on, Liverpool may be tempted to invest in a replacement – and that would bring Gordon back into the picture.
Newcastle will fight hard to keep hold of Gordon but the Liverpool rumours will likely bubble away for a while given his boyhood love for the club.
