With two months to go, the 2023/24 Premier League title race is heating up.
Rather than the usual two team shootout which has occurred over the previous few seasons, there are three genuine contenders for the league crown this term.
The trio face a nerve-racking final few weeks ahead as any of Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester City could be hoisting the trophy aloft come 19 May.
Premier League title odds
In terms of Premier League winner odds, Man City are out in front as the favorites to win their fourth successive crown at 6/5.
With regards to Premier League tips, Liverpool follow closely behind at odds of 2/1 and they could certainly run City close during the final few weeks.
Arsenal should not be counted out, especially as the Gunners are playing some scintillating football right now, although they are the third favorites to claim their first league title since 2004, sitting at odds of 13/5.
Jurgen Klopp was the last man to stop City in their tracks way back during the 2019/20 season as it saw the Anfield side finally record their first Premier League triumph.
Liverpool enjoyed a season for the ages during 2019/20
Klopp joined Liverpool in October 2015 with the club in a crisis.
They had won one trophy since 2006 – the 2012 League Cup – and were going nowhere fast.
The German steadied the ship while working wonders in the transfer market leading the Reds to the 2018 Champions League final, losing to Real Madrid.
A year later, they were celebrating their sixth European crown, but Klopp was not finished there.
With continental success in the bag, the next focus was dominating domestically.
Pep Guardiola had led City to the previous two league titles, winning narrowly during the 2018/19 campaign.
Liverpool did not drop any points until 20 October in the league, drawing with Manchester United and this would prove to be the last time Klopp’s team failed to win a league tie until 29 February 2020, a quite astonishing run of results.
This put them firmly on the brink of winning a first league title since 1990.
Then the Covid-19 pandemic came close to derailing their season however, as football, along with every other sport, was shut down in order of public safety.
It would be June before Liverpool played again, recording five wins, two draws and two defeats across their final nine fixtures.
When Man City slipped to defeat against Chelsea, the Anfield side finally ended a 30 year wait and Klopp’s legacy was all but confirmed.
City have subsequently won every title since then, but the former Borussia Dortmund manager could end his nine year association with the Reds by claiming his second English title.
Fixture congestion could have a big part to play, but there is no doubt Klopp’s players will be rallying alongside him in order to end his reign on a high note.
The next few weeks could be the most rewarding in the club’s history as a record equalling 20th top flight crown is within their sights.
