Liverpool are set for a huge summer of spending, and early signs have been encouraging for the Premier League champions.
The Reds are expected to bring in a number of new players with Liverpool already close to signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, with the Netherlands international set to replace Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold.
With Liverpool also keeping tabs on Nathan Zeze, the Reds are remaining at full speed heading into the summer transfer window when it comes to new signings, with Arne Slot keen to improve his squad and to go one better with the Anfield side next season.
And the Liverpool manager has now been in talks with one of the most exciting players in football, though interest from Manchester City could prove to be an issue.

According to the Mirror, Leverkusen superstar Florian Wirtz has held talks with Slot to discuss his summer transfer plans, with the Germany international also having similar discussions with City manager Pep Guardiola.
As per the report, the £100m-rated attacking midfielder is a big target for the Manchester side, who view Wirtz as the perfect replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, though City face some huge competition from Liverpool for the 22-year-old.
Wirtz has been strongly linked with Liverpool in recent weeks with Bayern Munich also part of the pack interested in signing the Bundesliga sensation, who looks set to join Frimpong out of Leverkusen this summer.

Indeed, Wirtz holding discussions with Slot is a potential boost to Liverpool’s chances of signing the German attacking midfielder, but City’s intention to go big this summer on new signings could prove to be too much for the Reds to handle.
Wirtz is regarded as one of the best young players in the world, with the Leverkusen maestro a key reason why Xabi Alonso’s side have been one of the best stories in European football in the last two seasons.
Yet whilst Liverpool are in the market for a creative midfielder, missing out on Wirtz won’t be the end of the world for the Reds, considering how many top options are actually out there this summer should City or Bayern scoop up the Leverkusen man.
Although Wirtz might be the best of the bunch, Liverpool know they can make do with another target, especially since there are more important areas in the squad that need work before a creative midfielder should become the priority.
