Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will sign a contract extension with Liverpool, keeping him at the club until 2023, according to the Daily Mail.

Liverpool now have a host of midfield options and Chamberlain coming back is only going to add to that.

Chamberlain apparently has three years left on his current deal and will agree to adding another one to underline his commitment to the club.

He had to watch on as his team-mates clinched the Champions League and came so close to winning the Premier League, but that will only spur him on when he can get involved in the coming season.

He’s still got plenty of time to improve and should have no problem getting back in the England squad once he’s playing regular football again.

They report that despite the fact that the England international missed much of last season with injury, the Reds’ faith in his ability hasn’t changed and they want to tie him down.

The former Arsenal man apparently earns £120,000 per week at Anfield – which is a lot of money for a club to pay to a player who can’t play for a season – so he will likely be keen to repay that faith when 2019/20 kicks off.
