David Alaba has not rejected the contract offer from Liverpool, according to reports. The Austrian supposedly has a huge deal on the table.
This comes from Bild. Christian Falk claimed today that David Alaba has not said no to a contract offer from Liverpool.
Now, the Austrian leans strongly towards Real Madrid, supposedly. That’s his preferred destination and where people expect him to go.
But this one isn’t wrapped up. And reports claim that contract offer from Liverpool is a sizeable one.
Fabrizio Romano said on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast that Liverpool made the best ‘economical’ bid for Alaba. He also wrote for the Guardian that Real’s offer was £204k-a-week after tax.

The suggestion, then, is that Liverpool beat that. We don’t know exactly how, though.
It’s possible they offered an even higher wage. It’s also possible they offered an extra year – Real supposedly offered four.
Either way, it’s understandable that Alaba is taking his time on this one. You don’t turn down offers that size without a very good reason.
What RTK has to say
Well, a week ago, we’d have seriously wondered why Liverpool would pay that for Alaba. Then we lost 1-0 at home to Burnley.
So our current mentality is firmly that Liverpool can’t pass up opportunities like this. How often does a player as good as Alaba become available without a transfer fee?
Virtually never, really. So make an offer and see what happens.

If he really wants Real, then he’ll surely go there. The fact he hasn’t quite agreed to it, though, offers some hope. Perhaps Real’s struggles put him off.
That’s obviously just speculation on our part but something appears to be a sticking point. It could always just be the size of Liverpool’s contract.
Whatever the reason, we’re quietly hoping this one goes Liverpool’s way. We won’t hold our breath, nor will we be distraught if he moves to Spain, but this could be a nice, quick way to improve the side.
