Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has emerged as a target for Italian giants AC Milan, according to Gianluca DiMarzio.

Lovren is currently the fourth choice central defender at Anfield behind Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.

Liverpool paid £20 million for his services five years ago and might look to recoup that figure for the man paid £100,000 per week, according to Spotrac.

The Croatian defender was signed from Southampton for £20 million back in 2014 (BBC Sport), although he has fallen out of favour this season.

In van Dijk, Matip and Gomez he has three capable defenders, whilst Lovren’s departure may allow a youngster to claim the role of fourth choice centre-half.

The 29-year-old featured just 18 times in all competitions during 2018/19, although he would leave the club with a Champions League winners medal around his neck.

Lovren boasts years of experience and he could prove a solid addition to the Milan ranks.
