Liverpool still have plenty of business to do but could be forced to sell some stars to balance the books.

Reds fans will have enjoyed the summer so far after making some statement signings, with the new Premier League season not coming around soon enough for them.

Florian Wirtz is the best of the bunch after joining for £116m, with the German’s arrival sending shockwaves throughout the rest of the division and Europe too.

The 22-year-old rejected both Manchester City and Bayern Munich to make the switch to Anfield, although the latter have been left far from happy with his decision.

Now, Bayern might be seeking some revenge by prising away some of Liverpool’s best players in order to get over the Wirtz snubbing, with the German giants eyeing up two attacking stars.

The attacking talent that could be available this summer is on another level, but the price that it will come at is also astronomical.

Bayern desperately want reinforcements after missing out on Wirtz and losing Thomas Muller, whose contract runs out this summer, and they might make a move for two of Liverpool’s best.

According to Christian Falk of CF Bayern Insider, the Bundesliga champions have started tracking Luis Diaz, adding to their existing interest in Cody Gakpo.

He reports that Real Madrid do not want to sell Brazilian winger Rodrygo, who was one of Bayern’s top targets, meaning they have turned their attention to the Colombian.

Diaz has been linked to Barcelona and could very well depart Anfield this summer, although the German club’s interest could mean that his potential destination has now changed.

Gakpo also remains on their list but seems unlikely as he is key to Arne Slot’s plans, although they have made contact with his representatives.

Falk concludes by revealing that Bayern also do not want to pay Liverpool a premium as that will help finance their move for Wirtz, indicating that there is a slight bitterness from the German outfit.

Diaz has been linked with many clubs during the transfer window, but after a short period of very few rumours, it looked at one point as if he would be staying.

However, the last few days have seen the link re-emerge and teams step up their interest, suggesting Liverpool will have a very hard job to keep him on their hands.

Barcelona’s sporting director Deco hinted that they might move for Diaz recently despite agreeing personal terms with Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams, with the financial side of that deal looking complicated.

Liverpool will not let their winger go for any less, however, especially as Saudi clubs remain interested, suggesting the Reds could use this to drive his market price up.

It is a saga that looks like it will drag on for the next few months but with Bayern now also in the race, we could see a bidding war break out for the Colombian star.
