Report: Chatter starting to form that Newcastle have just dramatically changed their stance on Alexander Isak

Liverpool are still waiting patiently for Newcastle to allow Alexander Isak to leave.

The Reds have made their transfer plans very clear from the start, so it comes as no surprise to anyone that they are still circling and ready to pounce for Isak should they get the green light.

The Swede still wants to leave and only wants to move to Liverpool, but Newcastle are refusing to sanction a sale until they have a replacement through the door.

However, after multiple failed attempts to sign a striker, the Reds’ wait goes on, with this potentially being a saga that could drag on for most of August.

But, with that being said, Newcastle’s stance might just be about to change, with the latest update one that will excite Liverpool fans.

Liverpool may have spent close to £300m already this summer but they are clearly willing to spend a lot more, with the Reds needing to break the British transfer record for the second time this summer if they are to sign Isak.

Newcastle have remained firm with their stance and if they are to allow the Swede to go, they would demand £150m from Liverpool to let it happen.

However, according to the Chronicle Live, other agents have suggested that a lower offer of £130m plus add-ons might be enough to tempt them, with this said to be enough to be the ‘breakthrough’.

This softening of their stance is certainly a good sign for the Reds, although all still depends on them signing one or maybe even two replacements.

The Magpies have all-but given Isak an ultimatum according to the report, with this stating that if no serious offer arrives, no transfer will be allowed to happen.

For now, all the Reds and their fans can do is hope Newcastle source a replacement sooner rather than later, although they might delay any plans to avoid having to come up against Isak when they play Liverpool in gameweek two.

The reports for the majority of the summer were that Liverpool would sign either Isak or Hugo Ekitike, not both.

However, the latter could become the reality and despite hesitation from fans, signing two strikers in one window actually might work rather well.

Ekitike has proven during his very short time at the club that he is more than a striker and is a more than capable facilitator, with the Frenchman liking to drift out to the left to create attacks.

Of course, Cody Gakpo will likely be the first choice left winger, but Ekitike is more than adept at filling in when needed.

It would also be a lot of money but signing a player of Isak’s quality does not come around often at all, suggesting the Reds should take the punt and fit them both into the team.
